Elderly neighbours in the cold weather

The elderly gent next door to us has motor neurone disease. My DH dug his car out of the snow so he could go to see his GP and helped to get him going. He insisted on going off himself.
Also, DH changed some light bulbs in his house for him.
The neighbour is a widower and a real love.:)
Our neighbour on the other side is a widow, also getting on.
DH knocks on her door too to see if she is okay and if she needs anything in the way of provisions.
Maybe, someone will do the same for us one day.;)Felines are my favourite

The weather is causing so many problems for so many people as it was for me. I keep my cupboards well stocked up and my fridge freezer so I haven't needed to go shopping, but I did need to get fruit and veg and milk, but because the roads are so bad the buses have stopped running and its dangerous to try to walk on the pavements or the road. Then today I had 5 people ring me up offering to take me shopping what a wonderful spirit those people displayed, so I had my Christmas shopping and am now home safely and very grateful to my friends.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Our elderly next door neighbour was going to France for Christmas, to his family.
He is going to cancel his flight because of all the flight cancellations and bad weather, as he is not well and could not get stuck anywhere along the route or in the terminal.
We will either get him around here for a Christmas Day meal, or go to his for a drink later and take him a cooked plate of Christmas food to enjoy. Whatever he wants.Felines are my favourite

I can't get to my parent's due to the snow. In fact my 79yo dad has been driving me everywhere in his 9yo Astra, which is like a little tractor in the snow! It conquers where my one spectacularly fails! He collected me twice from my work yesterday, and took me there once (I did walk there early in the morning but fell
), and then him and mum took me to Tesco. He doesn't have a spade as they used to live in sheltered housing and they gave away all their gardening stuff. Decided it wasn't for them and moved out and into a bungalow. They went home yesterday after ferrying me about (I said I would walk but they insisted in driving me - should be the other way around!) and their path had been cleared of snow. Dad went next door to ask if they'd seen who had done it and it was them. Mum makes lovely currant loaves so she took one round as a thank you.

Just thought I'd bump this thread - to remind us all of keeping an eye out to help.0

I've been keeping up with the neighbours and making sure they are all ok in this weather by doing my bit.
Imagine my surprise yesterday when one of my young neighbours knocked on my door and asked if I was ok and could he help me in any way.
I don't know whether to be happy or sad ........................ I'm 52 and always out and about :rotfl:
Old to him I guess, very nice to know someone was looking out for me.
My DH had a great laugh over it last night.

At 54 & 52 we're the oldest on our street, but our neighbours aren't as "thoughtful" , or maybe they're tactful!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
My elderly neighbours were out with DS and I this morning at 6:45 enjoying the eclipse
We try to keep an eye on them at all times.
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
