The little icon that looks like a postcard with mountains on is the 'insert image' icon. Then you need the url of the image. I use photobucket, it's free!0

I've just got my first raised bed. Wooooo!

My garden is a building site at the moment and it probably wont be this year (again) that it gets sorted. So I bought a plastic raised bed that I can dismantle if need be until such time when I can plan proper ones into the garden layout.
Anyway, I'm finding the cost of compost really pocket breaking.
Most of the garden is slabbed just now and the small bit of mud that we have is just that, clay type mud, stones and weeds so I figured poor quality for growing veg etc. Digging this up would also cause a rather large hole as it really is only a small area.
I've just spent £16 on 4 bags of compost and it's nowhere near enough to fill the raised bed thing I bought. Is that just par for the course? Do I just have to accept raised beds = expensive to fill? Maybe I was just being unrealistic / naive. :undecided I thought growing your own was supposed to be cheap. This is costing a fortune. It will be 10 years before I recoup the cost through not buying lettuce.

Aliasojo check with your local council, ours was giving compost away a few weeks ago although you were limited to four bags. But then i saw an advert in the freepaper that a neighbouring council was giving as much as you want. It said just bring your own bags they had 30 tons.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Thanks Sam, I'll see if I can find anything out Council wise on Monday.
My alternative plan involves a mask, a stripey jumper, a spade and bucket and a trip to the nearest farmer's field at midnight. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!
