Suposed to moving tomorrow!

Heavy snow in Reading and worried about solicitors making it in! What is the process of completion? Can solicitors work from home or if just one person makes it in is completion possible?

you need 2 solicitors and 2 bankers to make it in, and an estate agent for the keys

all out of your control - nothing you can do - go sleep!

Yeah I'm in a similar position, supposed to complete on Friday, the date written into the Contact when we exchanged. I did wonder what my Legal position is if the Vendor says they can't move out because of the weather

Just had a call from the person we are buying from saying they are having trouble moving the van, pressumably this will be the same for every one and solicitors. So what happens now? How long does it take to rearrange a new completion? This is going to cause me a huge headache to say the least...

Hope it works out, try not to get too stressed!

I've got a van booked for Friday, bloke reckons he can manage any condition so long as there's not a foot of snow  Just hope Vendors is like minded! Luckily I've got a few days grace, as currently in rented. However, if Vendor hasn't moved on Friday (and my blokes turn up) I'll forefit 50% of my removal costs, and will have to rebook.
  • It will be a case of each person talking to their removers and to their solicitors and the exercise of a lot of common sense!

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
  • Problem is there has been 18 inches of snow! Feeling very depressed about the possibilty of living out of boxes and no where to sit for a week :(

These are exceptional conditions and there will be hundreds of people up and down the country in the same boat. I don't think you need to worry about the solicitors as they can work from home - all they need is a phone and the file details, which will all be accessible remotely by computer.

Your bigger concern is if someone along the chain can't physically carry out the removal because of the snow - the big firms will have vehicles that can cope, but anyone doing a DIY removal with a self-hire van could have problems.

But try not to worry, moving is stressful enough, there is absolutely nothing you can do about the fact that we are experiencing the worst weather conditions for 30 years .
Oh no! I have just realised, I actually remember that winter

I can remember the Winter of 62/63 as a child. It seemed to go on forever, and our House had no central heating, just a fire in the Lounge!

You might want to make arrangements for protecting your carpets (at your current house and new one). The carpets at our old house needed replacing anyway, but after seeing the marks left by all the slushy boots going in and out I thought our buyer might say something about it afterwards (he didn't).
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.
