We prefer Branstons to Heinz too.

We used to love the Heinz ones with maple syrup - but that was in Canada, haven't seen those ones here yet.....but now I only buy Branston's - don't eat them often, but have stocked up on the deal.

Was it just my stomach that turned at the thought of beans in maple syrup _pale_

saw this thread yesterday and was in tesco today doing a shop , they had the silver labelled tins and also the brown labelled tins , so nothing to do with changing the label

Certaily looks like stated above. Tesco website showing new brown label but also 4 for 89p.
Cant understand the pricing logic, pack of 4 for £2.34 (not £2.89 as stated in OP) yet 50p each and now better still 4 for 89p. So why i ask, has my local store got the 4 packs at £2.34 on a big display at the store entrance. My guess is trying to fool people into thinking its an offer.

Branston beans are tastier than Heinz ones IMO. Heinz seem to have less beans and more runny sauce than the used to have. Heinz low sugar beans are so sweet - must be an overdose of saccarine.

  • The consequence of buying up job lots of baked beans is all very well but what about the gasses produced as a result - still, might help melt the snow !!

Annoyed, coz i bought two tins of Branston beans on Monday - no sign up in my store about 4 for 89p, and won't be going out again for a few days.

Yes but your not Canadian, the theme in Canada is more like, "Why haven't they brought that out with maple syrup in" whatever the product, it is after all the land of milk and maple syrup.

They sound like they would taste more like the original baked beans from Boston USA, less tomatoey but with a deeper colour and taste due to the molasses used for flavouring ;)

I prefer Branston as well, thanks to my BF who also pointed out the differences compared to Heinz in the above posts :D

Morrisons had 4-packs of Branston baked beans for 89p last week, and Tesco felt they had to be seen to compete; that would be my guess...
Thanks to all who post constructively.
