Why is my cat making this noise?

It could be all sorts of reasons but apparently some cats can sense cat 'spirits' of cats that used to live in the house!! But most likely her age, a new home and maybe the odd twinge having climbed the stairs! My beloved cat who is nearly 18 is quite clinging and sometimes just cries so that everybody knows that he's still here and alive and kicking!0

My 14yo male cat does this, ususally before he's about to do a number 2.more dollar$ than sense0

Noah yeowls AFTER he has buried his number two, it's his favourite time for whizzing around the flat with big eyes and his ears back. I think the yeowl means "come and play with me".

It does sound like dementia - I'm afraid it only gets worse

Try a change of food, Noah stinks the entire flat out on anything containing rice and is virtually smell-free on the really high meat content stuff (raw meat/ Orijen/ Applaws). :cool:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
All cats have a wide variety of funny noises and if they let the humans know what they all meant it would spoil their fun at our expense (rather like that old "the rules" man/woman email that does the rounds). Mine snores like a 20 stone bloke - always has done and she's such a dainty little primadonna it's hilarious, but sometimes so loud you have to prod her awake so you can actually hear the telly!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Given the age of the cat, she most probably has certain expectations relating to the layout of the house which the new house does not meet. The fact that she makes the noise on the way to the vet is the clue that she doesn't like it.mummydarling wrote: »We moved into our house 4 months ago and since then, when she goes upstairs (en route to my bed) she stands on the landing and meows at nothing, it's a similar low meow to the one she does in the car on the way to the vets.
Is she afraid of something or is this considered 'normal?'
She is nearly 19 years old and in general good health.
Does the location of the howl correspond with an equivalent place for some part of her routine in the old house?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Did the previous home owners have a cat or a dog, maybe the scent is particularly strong in that area? My cat makes a noise like this in my bedroom, where my daughter's cat had been sleeping when she was in hospital, needless to say they didn't get on, but needs must.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
