Sorry, Home delivery network rant

Home delivery network apparently delivered a parcel to me today.

Clearly, they didn't because the parcel was apparently left in the safe place at the rear of the house.

The rear of the house is 140 feet away, backing a public car park. How does that make it a SAFE place??

But to make it even better, I have now spent 20 minutes tramping in the snow thinking they did actually do that to find NOTHING

Just tried to call them to talk to someone. The card says they are open till 10pm. well, at 9:15pm, their call centre is shut. The recorded message says working hours are 7:30am-10:00pm. Great.

Why haven't Amazon sacked these bunch of jokers yet? No other courier company makes me want to vomit bile as much as them. (especially after having to rummage through snow to find their supposed safe place)

I suspect that they have allowed their staff to go home early because of the weather.
I understand your anger, but you can't begrudge them that.

Obviously leaving the parcel there is unacceptable.

    Because they are cheap!

Don't forget - deal with the retailer, not the courier. It is the retailer that has promised to deliver your goods.

Amazon (thankfully it's them, I would hate it to be an order from another company) have run out of the item and are offering a refund.

HDNL really do not deserve their business.
  • Home delivery network are shocking, they don't need the snow as an excuse they are just absolute rubbish full stop. I've used them a few times and never had a good thing to say about them. When I lived in a house I had a couple of things delivered from them when i ordered from kays. Even if i had been in all day i would find no cards left but my parcel thrown over the fence or left on the door step in the soaking rain.

Then i had a phone ordered from o2, tracked it and it said it had been delivered and a card had been left with me! Had NO card and been in all day waiting like an idiot. It then said re arrange delivery for tomorrow again i waited all day and it said it had re attempted and again i wasn't in and they'd left a card for the second time, again NO card. Called them up woman was very rude and called the van driver who sai he couldn't find the flat. (it's right near a huge hospital) but even so, you just "give up" and say you've posted a card?! It was next day delivery to.

Finally ordered a pram off ebay and the seller used home delivery network  much to my dismay. It was despatched on a tuesday and the delivery was 22 quid. Was tracking it and was left in maidstone depot for a while then it was left in romford depot for over a day (I LIVE in romford!!) tried to call and an automated message said it was closed and open till 8pm only (i called at 4pm)

Saturday it still wasn't delivered and frustratingly sitting a mile away from me. Phone keeps either ringing with them or you get fobbed off or told it's "on the van" NEVER use this company!! I completely sympathise with you they are AWFUL and i will not be using amazon ever again in that case!

This is the second time I've had to rant about this company.

Ordered an iPod touch from Tesco on Friday - guaranteed delivery for Sat between 7am and 7pm. Got a text in the morning to say it would be delivered between 1pm and 3pm, which was great as we were going out at 4pm and I didn't want to change my plans. By 4pm there was no sign of it, so we went out and when we got back at 10pm there was no note through the door or anything.

Rang Tesco to find out where it was, they checked their system and the courier had written "no access to property". Asked him which company it was and he said "Home Delivery Network". Surprise surprise! Told him they were crap and I didn't know why they use them.

Think I am going to cancel it and get instore - might even get it from Asda just to !!!! them off.

If I'd have known they used HDN I would have thought twice about ordering it from them in the first place.

Unbelievable - after e-mailing Tesco yesterday to cancel the order and telling them I've bought it elsewhere (actually I got one from their shop but they don't know that) HDN turned up with it today in the 5 minutes my OH had gone to the shop, and afte presumably knocking and not getting any reply they pushed it through the letterbox without getting a signature.

A person less honest than me could easily claim it hadn't been delivered.

Sell it on ebay and donate the money to Haiti.

    Am I serious?

Another rant about Amazon & HDN

According to the tracking information the parcel has been out and back to their depot twice. Yet I haven't received a card saying they have tried to deliver. Not even to the main door of my block of flats as the drivers they use don't know how to ring a doorbell and hence just shove the card under the main door in the theory that someone out of the couple dozen people who live in this block will pick it up and put it under my door

Fortunately - after going through this rigmarole several times with them - I do have their "local" (ha ha it's a 40 mile round trip) phone number - so tomorrow I will ring them and go and collect my items. Though no doubt they will hum and hah because I can't produce a card and won't let me have the package without producing evidence of my name, address, blood group and inside leg measurement.

The REALLY REALLY annoying thing is that this order was sent in two parts on the same day - the first part arrived the next day with no problem because it went through Royal Mail, the latter has taken a week to get to this stage.

Does anyone know if you can find out how a particular item will be delivered so that I can decide whether to buy through Amazon again

I had a similar problem. HDN, despite the card advising that delivery would be attempted three times, sent my parcel back to Amazon after only one attempt. It was also incredibly difficult to get through to try to re-arrange delivery. When I finally did after half a day of trying, I discovered that the goods had been returned.

I complained to Amazon and requested Royal Mail (even if I'm not in, I live very near the depot). They promptly sent the items first class and I received them the next day.

I'd contact Amazon with your concerns generally. After all, it's in their interest to make delivery as straightforward as possible. Taking a day off work and being chained to the house is (marginally) acceptable when you've ordered an item that must be home-delivered such as a new bed or washing machine. But books, CDs etc. which no doubt make up the majority of Amazon orders....? If it's difficult, people will just go to the shops.

  • I must be lucky up here then as I've always found them very good
