TBH the best gift would be for all the guests to turn up, after discussing with in and outlaws we decided that a traditional wedding list wasn't needed, as we have everything, and we have very picky tastes.

So led by a suggestion by our travel consultant who has arranged our Thailand trip, he has setup a webpage for us, that guests can visit and there are suggestions like:

Upgrade a room at a particular hotel
Pay for a meal at a particular romantic restaurant. etc

But I dont expect anything, if we do recieve anythings thats a bonus.

I would suggest a piece of Art too, by OH bought me this a few years back: http://www.longridgegallery.co.uk/images/art/109_l.jpg
I love it and it has pride of place, but I would never have been able to justify its £300+ price tag!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

My OH and I have seen some paintings by this artist http://www.longridgegallery.co.uk/artist.php?id=17 in a few galleries and really like them - that would be perfect!

eg me & OH are saving all gifted money towards a plasma tv. Its something we can never afford ourselves and its nice to be able to tell people thier money went towards something worthwhile ( honeymoon cash is a good one too) than frittered on new chopping boards or hoovers "just for the sake of"

Surely that depends if you think a Plasma TV is something "worthwhile"

A piece of art you know they'd love, a piece of furniture you know they have had their eye on, a gadget for the home that they would not buy for themsleves (like the robot vaccuum if you think they'd love it!). A video camera or decent camera? A nice bench for the garden or if they are into that sort of thing a bird bath/bird table or maybe a specimen plant?

lots of options, but it depends on their tastes really ...

That would have been my suggestion too, we are going to ask for people to contribute to the actual wedding but if someone wanted to spend a little extra on us it would probably be for an excursion or meal for our honeymoon. Could you contact their hotel or travel agent and arrange something as a suprise?

My Aunt's boyfriend was a wedding planner and he mentioned a gift that always goes down well (but some hotels throw in free so best to check) would be a cake knife engraved with the names of the bride and groom and the wedding date. I thought that was a brilliant idea and something nice to keep. Some jewellers sell cake knives.

Another friend offered to make us personally engraved champagne flutes with our initials and the dates - another nice thought?

The hotel I used to work in gave the bride and groom a set of champagne flutes engraved with their names and the wedding date as part of the package.

On a similar note, when my tea-mad sister got married last year I went to one of those ceramic painting places and made her and my brother-in-law a teapot painted with their names, the wedding date and various romantic symbols (rings, hearts, champagne glasses etc). They absolutely loved it. I have seen that you can do other things (plates, cups, serving platters etc) as well so maybe that's an idea?

I can justify it too! Had a ball in the Le Creuset shop at Cheshire Oaks before Christmas and spent a bit of cash there ;)

I got some bits of it for my birthday too, just before Christmas also.

OH wants all the pans now, he can pay for them at those prices though!

I'll have to get myself along to Cheshire Oaks next time I'm up north, there's probably a shop down here though. I've not been to the outlet, I normally just splurge in John Lewis or Selfridges :o

I wouldn't hesitate with the pans, they are the best thing ever, I find them so much easier to cook with and obviously you won't need to replace them in a hurry.

Sorry for the hijack OP! x

    Full price? Ouch!

There were some great savings at the Cheshire Oaks shop, I really could have gone nuts in there, if only I had the cash!

I had my eye on the gravy boat and saucer (if that's what it's called what the boat sits on?), but I didn't get it incase anyone broke it on Christmas Day ~ I think I would have been more gutted about that over the Turkey being burnt :o

Ditto OP, I'll shut up now! :D
