unless company policy say otherwise but if you were talking about statutory rights then you are completely wrong

Well as i said, this doesnt exist under statutory rights.
I did also say if retailer policy says otherwise then you can use that.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

I know but people may be mislead to think that your post referred to all purchases....Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I find it laughable you try to blame the retailer for failing to mention incompatibility issues with 64bit OSes. They're not there to give you an advanced computer lesson. Your supposed to clue yourself up on what your buying before you buy it.
You have a 64bit OS which is pretty standard on new computers these days. If you have bought a cheapo freeview TV dongle that isn't 64bit compatible, and you're certain of that (after checking with the manufacturer for updates etc), then you will either need to buy a new dongle (they're cheap enough) or downgrade to a 32-bit operating system at your expense. Under no circumstances would you be able to return your used laptop for the reasons you have stated. None of your statutory rights would allow you to do that.
And by the way, don't go into a place that sells computers and start explaining to the people there "the compatibilty issues with software and prephreials down the line", when you didn't even know anything about any of that until a few days ago and still have a very poor understanding of it now. Just makes you sound stupid. 64bit OSs have been around for ages now and compatibility with hardware/software is very good.0 -
oh dear pendulum is "one of those", search posts....0

You can take it back within 28 days if it's not opened. Otherwise, there's no liability for it not working with a peripheral you bought separately, unless you specifically said you wanted it to work with a 32-bit compatible tv tuner.
Besides, most compatibility issues can be solved by a download of software or drivers...or 32-bit compatibility modeSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Keep it! By the sounds of it you are not a heavy PC user, so therefore are highly unlikely to come up against any compatibility problems. I have been running Windows 7 64bit for a number of months and have had zero issues with programs.0

Anyone else think the OP probably just didnt install it properly.
Probably one of these idiots that impatient he ignored the instructions, fired in the dongle and forgot to install the drivers etc in the correct steps...0 -
As others have said, you don't have any legal recourse unless one of the following has happened:
1. The POS in store described it as a 32 bit operating system (unlikely but not impossible)
2. The salesperson clearly explained that it was a 32 bit system and sold it to you on that basis (although not mentioning it does not put him in the wrong).
3. You explicitly asked for a 32 bit system (from the sounds of it, you didn't).
Anything outside that and you're relying on their goodwill.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
