A screw found in food - what to do?

Not sure where to post this but just after some advise as to what action i should/could take.
Bought some Indian Sweet (Ladoo) from a very famous Indian Sweet Chain called Ambala (https://www.ambala.co.uk). My niece was eating one and she broke the ladoo in half and a huge piece of screw was inside.
What should we do?

Keep the sweet,
Send it off with a cover letter, stating when you purchased and your invoice/receipt stating you would like a refund for the sweet (if they are sold individually?) an apology and an investigation into how this occurred.
If they do this then both parties have acted responsibly and should be the end of it.
PS - dont go into the "that" word, you dont deserve said word really and mentioning will cause multiple trolls to sporadically appear on this thread and slate you lol. Just a warning to you in case you were planning on talking about "that". (that word is treated like voldimort on here, "he who must not be named"):rotfl:Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Personally I would contact them and take the position of assisting them in establishing where they may have a potentially serious breakdown of mechanical equipment.
They will need the part to show to the engineer so they can identify exactly where it came from.
Hopefully they will thank you in some form and ask if anyone was injured, and apologise. However in case you wish to take it further take a super close up photograph of the part.

I found a nut in my dinner a few years back at a national food chain restaurant. (A nut as in, the thing you put a screw into, not an edible one!). Without even asking the meal was scrubbed from the bill, I got a fresh dish, many apologies from the waitress and a £20 gift voucher from the manager. All I said was "erm.. I just found this..".
My point is, write a factual letter pointing out the circumstances. You might get a gesture of good-will in the post or something, which would be nice, but no one was harmed by it so hopefully they can find out what went wrong and stop it happening again when it might be more serious.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. If you don't want compensation, by all means give them the evidence back,
alternatively you could report them, and they'll be fined several thousands for breaching health and safety, hygene regs, etc.
Or something in the middle.0 -
I was planning on sending a photo anyway.
If i was to ask for compensation - how should i base that?0 -

You cant really base it, if they think you deserve compensation, you will get it without asking. At least a refund and apology. Don't ask for anything else.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
When you contact them, tell them to google "screw in food".
