    Hi,

A boiler and 12 rads in 2 days.

I might be wrong here but I suspect you will be swarmed on by a team of 'fitters' who will storm your system in and be off to the next one as fast as possible.
IMO you can't do a neat and tidy job in such a short space of time
Any 'post installation snags' will be dealt with by the company's 'snagging engineer' as and when they choose .
Also no mention of any kind of filter such as Magnaclean or Boiler Buddy, or flushing of any kind.
You've chosen a good boiler it will serve you well if it is fitted in a good clean system and maintained annually
You don't say if it is complete new system or a system upgrade.
Like I say, I might be wrong..........

    Where are you?

I live in Blackburn, Lancashire........also plz see the e-mail i received from them

    Date: 6th January 2010

    Name: Mr ..............

    Address: .........................

Please find below my quote to you for a new central heating system supplied and fitting.

Valliant ecotec 937 combi boiler with three year warranty, twelve new radiators, new gas run if required supplied, new clock, new thermostat, part P electric certificate, part L gas safe certificate, removal of old system from property,£4250 inc vat and fitting.

Viessmann 35kw combi boiler with five year warranty, twelve new radiators, new gas run if required supplied, new clock, new thermostat, part p electric certificate, part L gas safe certificate, removal of old system from property,£4099 inc vat and fitting.

We would need to arrange a site survey of the property if happy to go head with the job, this takes around twenty minutes to complete. Once this is concluded the work would take around two/three days to install. If you have any further questions you can reach me on the number below or via email.

    Kind Regards

I would say the quote is on the high side, around about 3.5k would be more reasonable, but as someone said earlier in the thread the £750 difference is probably inheat's take from the contract, as it will be subbed to a local contractor.

I'll bet you you could get that quote down a bit if you haggle.

price has probs been put up due to scrappage
  • Well 2 reasons why I wana go with these guys: 1, interest free for 12months & no 2, it's a quicker job (3/4days) as the local plumber said he will take 2 weeks to do eventhough his much cheaper.
  • Have sent you a pm alien.

It's rather cynical to think a quote is high because of boiler scrappage. There was no mention by OP about scrappage or that they're boiler qualified. Most boilers won't qualify so scrappage is rather a non issue to affect price.

You've had 3 quotes and they are all pretty similar. If price is the issue as you suggest and 12 months interest free is your bag then why not pick the Viessmann quote. It's only £400 Inc vat more than the cheapest and has the best warranty.

Perhaps instead of haggling on price haggle for a magna or spirovent filter to be fitted free.
Have them to specify the inhibitor and flush chemical they will use go for a brand like fernox or sentinel and make sure they use it. If they are usig any of the exisiting pipe work it will need to be flushed through but not necesarrily power flushed.

Personally around the £4000 Inc vat is a
reasonable price without knowing the site. Allowing £150 per rad and £1800 for boiler plus parts not far out.

You should get a heatloss calc to to give you the right size radiators so ensure that is done with the survey. 35kw is a big boiler doubt you need it for heating so it will check to se if the radiators are oversized. If you need it for showers then part l should be having you using low water flow showers.... Best if you can fit it in is to have a system not a combi and fit a cylinder In somewhere and then fit a smaller boiler 24kw would likely suffice.
  • Thank for that advice...it gona be all brand new piping and vaillant is suppose to recommended by lots people
  • Please can you let me know how you got on with inheat uk i have someone coming out to do a survey tuesday for 5 rads and a new boiler i got quoted £2495

The price sounds to good to be true..

Please can anyone let me know if they have had any work done by this company?
