AOL problems have been reported for a while, have a read of this MSE thread and more specifically this post. It gives a fix for certain routers.
It looks like AOL changed somethng which messed a lot of people up.

Don't know if the same would apply to Orange - may be worth a try, but make a note of the current setting, and put it back if it doesn't work.

I got onto Nat West and Orange today expressing my concern, the fault has been rectified and I'm asking for a free months broadband from Orange as a goodwill gesture for the inconveniece caused. One has to be cheeky.
