I clean my sunglasses regularly with microfibre, and only occasionally I put them "through the wash" when I do the dishes...

If I'm in a hurry, a squirt of Windolene and a kitchen towel works well!

Don't use kitchen towels/tissues/toilet paper as the fibres in them can scratch the lenses. Best to use a soft cloth or as GR does, inside your tshirt (same as me)

I also use washing up liquid/hot water and a very soft brush (old toothbrush) to get any sweaty residue on the nose pads.

not a quick enough typer here, just repeated Linda32's post !

My optician said that washing-up liquid and hand-hot water was the best way to clean glasses, so that's what I do. As a previous poster says, if the water's hot enough you don't need to dry them much (but I have also been known to use the inside-of-T-shirt method...)

Once I was at the opticians and they cleaned mine with methylated spirits. She said it was fine to do about once a month. They were gleaming, it was like seeing for the first time. In between washing up liquid and hot water.

Must be a lot of wet teeshirts!! I always find a flanelette (sp?)sheet is sufficient..I'm usually on the last lap and in a hurry in the mornings.
For a longer lasting shine - meths is good but be careful.

Oh my god !!

NEVER wash them in a dish washer ! You might not see it too start with but you will get them scratched beyond belief !

The best thing to use is washing up liquid, anything else you have to be careful of the coating you have, some people use nail varnish remover, works well in small doses .

If you go into vision express they will clean them for you, at no cost, with their lab meths, stuff is amazing. Doesnt matter where you got your glasses !:T You used to be able to buy a small tin at about £1.50, guess you still can, will last ages .

Thanks for everyones suggestions - much appreciated!

I've managed to intergrate cleaning my glasses into my daily washing routine by cycling through the local car wash.

At the pub I used to work at I used to get boiling water, let the steam fog up the glass and clean with a clean tea towel
