Selling on ebay for the first time

The problems i am facing, well more queries i guess. I have never sold anything on Ebay buy have bought some stuff and the sellers have given me good feedback. I was wondering i want to sell somthing which is going to cost me 93p per product. I have searched ebay and found the same product is going for (Buy it now):

£2.29 and £2.09 by the same seller
2.99
3.99
4.99- top rated seller


I am not sure what price i should put it at. Any advice?

All figures including postage? Or all postage the same?

So does your 93p include postage then?

Not going to be much of a profit if it doesn't.
Especially if it's what I think it is- that'll be a packet size probably, so £1.08 at least.

Ebay will take 20p, paypal will take 27p so you need to go up to (I have dysclaculia, so sorry if its out) about £2.70?

That's to break even, and without packaging.

I echo what Turkish says, start at the net proceeds and work back to set your selling price, I see so many sellers selling items at a loss.

You must factor in all the fees as above, plus the costs of listing if item goes unsold, plus as you will be a business yourncome tax .Also remember that the longer standing members will probably outsell you as they will have a good selling history, they might even cut their prices to force you out as they can probably drop their prices for a while to see of a new competitor.

Free to the buyer.. you still have to pay it though, right? So you have to figure in the actual cost of stamps when working out your price point.

As others have said you need to work out all costs. Paypal/Listing fees/Final value fees/postage fees the cost of packaging. So you need to add these to the cost price then add a reasonable profit. Then look and see what competitors are selling at. If you cant get anywhere near there prices it may not be worth you selling them. If your near or under and still making a good profit you know your on the right track

It's not, free, it's included in the price the buyer pays. You still have to shell out for your stamps, envelopes etc.

Banging an item in a postbox with FREEPOST at the top of the address won't work either, the buyer will be charged at the point of delivery (that postage cost, plus a quid admin charge), and you'll probably get negged for your (as they'll see it) cost-cutting.

i am saying that where i am getting it from they offer free shipping. Will use a ebay calculator.
