He to that said ok laugh all you like I saved up over £80 over the whole year picking up coins people like have dropped:rotfl:

You stop off at the supermarket specifically to buy reduced bread/rolls/subs and reduced deli meat - making them up as soon as you get home and then freezing them! All of my lunches for next week (5 days) sorted for a grand total of £1.29 - coming from a girl who (pre-mse) would buy lunch everyday which came to something over £2.50 at least!

You make up relaxation packs of t bags from the breakfast buffet tea selection for friend's who like earl grey or peppermint! posh knobs.
You buy only 5-6 pieces of fruit each shopping trip to save wastage and 5 mangetout as OH is the only person who likes it.

Oi! I like herbal teas and I'm not posh! :rotfl:
And oh how I wish we could buy 5 mangetout, here it's a choice of a £2.50 pack of too many for your stir fry or do without. Damn you supermarkets selling everything pre-packed!!lilac_lady wrote: »You know when you're a moneysaver when you try to obtain bargains and watch your spending.
You know you're mean when you do things to save money at the cost to other people.
Are you mean or moneysaving? Be honest.

You see the Co Op is doing a special on loo rolls, but know your local store won't have it. You therefore call your friend from uni and ask her to buy your stock in her Co Op so you can repay her next week when you see her.
Bingo! 48 rolls for £10 and no worries about buying loo rolls for a long time :rotfl:(oh, and she didn't bat an eyelid!)

I don't know if anyone has answered you but, if not, you can click "Set as homepage" which is top right of the web-page or, while on any page you wish to use as a home page, click Tools (toolbar menu); Internet Options; and click Use Current0 -

then walk away with a smug smile on your face having seen their gaping jaws
then come back 10 minutes later to see much better prices than before MUAHAHAHAHA
Bravo! simply Bravo!! :T :T :TRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
...when a lady asks you in Mr T's if you know where the breadcrumbs are, and you ask her why she's buying them, explain how easy it is to make her own, show her where the packaged ones are and then say "You could buy three loaves of value bread for that - imagine how many breadcrumbs that would make".:o

Our Mr T's sells small bags of mange tout, green beans, sweetcorn and something else I can't remember for 50p. More than 5 in the bag.Light travels faster than sound - that's why you can see someone who looks bright until they open their mouth.0 -
With mangetout I freeze them (from fresh) in smaller portions, same with baby corn etc. I don't use Mr T or buy much pre packed but I rarely buy tiny amounts as it just works out easier.
A money saver when.....you check the electric/gas usage daily and if there has been a huge increase you find out why so you can make sure if it was wasted you know where, why and how to stop it happening again.
I also don't believe it is money saving when your savings are done dishonestly or at a cost to someone else. Yes ok woopsied items cost the supermarkets but with better planning they would seldom be necessary (hence we don't get many here)One day I might be more organised...........

A last word on the idea of soaking magazines in water, rolling them up and pushing through loo roll so that they make logs when they are dry: I see I got the idea from http://community.rivercottage.net/users/dmcp/forums/chat/viewtopic/topic_id:26853
Just had to let you know it wasn't my idea, though I wish it were.0 -
thanks for that link - if I tell DH I got the idea from River Cottage he;ll be more likely to try it!weaving through the chaos...0
