You know you're mean when you do things to save money at the cost to other people.
Are you mean or moneysaving? Be honest.
Lilaclady I think that is an excellent way to sum it up. I would like to think I'm the former rather than the latter of course!weaving through the chaos...0 -

The look of helplessness on gets when you have just had an order from approved foods. And have to find homes for it all.
Until someone has to shimmy past the case of salad oil and mustard on the stairs, and you tell them how much it all cost.Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

Car:
Reversing into your carpark space so you can just drive straight off (all that faffing reversing when the engine is cold burns more fuel!)
Filling up early in the morning when the fuel is colder and more condensed.
Emptying your boot of everything except the essentials to get better mileage as well as taking off your roof rack each time you need it on a bi-daily basis!
Timing the traffic lights so you know exactly how long you can turn your engine off.
Using google maps to optimise your route.
Checking tyre pressures regularly.
also:
Licking your bowl/yogurt pot etc
Not having ice in your drinks to get the extra squirt of softdrink
Getting straws, little milks, sachets etc from fast food places
brewing your own alcoholic drinks
getting people over to your house with BYO bottles rather than goto the pubs (more fun too)Tim0 -

when hubby is at work he is almost as bad as me if not worse, and some of the lads he works with is as bad as your boyfriend! They chuck 1p 2p and even 5ps on the floor and hubs dives for them lol, they just laugh at him. He to that said ok laugh all you like I saved up over £80 over the whole year picking up coins people like have dropped:rotfl:
Now he doesn't find as many coins as he did at work:rolleyes:
When you and your friend want a drink of water and refuse to pay 80p each and go to the pound shop for 2 for £1 to find they don't have any left and do with out till you get in the house.Grocery Challenge. £400. - £35.22 + £19.80 + £109.01 = £164.03
Other spends (Clothes Luxuries etc)£11.97 + £1.19 + £7.36 + £69.00 + £38.50 + £5.50 + £23.00 +£2.00 = £158.52:shocked::sad:0 -

Last year all her summer dresses came from the same source, as they no longer fit they've been turned into a patchwork throw to go on her bed, I will admit to having bought the fleece backing new BUT it was a bargain as it was very dusty and I got it for £2.
I was just going to say the same, and you beat me to it!
There is a £1 rail in one of my fave charity shops, a half price rail in Oxfam, and in one of the animal ones there's a "everything 50p" basket. I think 90% of my wardrobe has been sourced from these three places.
I just this morning got an outfit from Oxfam for a family lunch outing at the weekend for £3.98. Both items look like new - M&S gorgeous long shirt, and M&S trousers. I give thanks to whoever donates this wonderful stuff, God bless you for your generosity, when you could be putting it on Ebay.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

You know your a money saver when...
Your 8 yr old DD says "oooh I can't wait to see how much is in our sealed tin!".:rotfl:
we have ours in a jar on top of the fridge so she can see it filling up. when we've resisted buying stuff we really didn't need that money normally goes in the jar, also change we've found and any coins 10p or under when we come back from a shopping trip.
this money gets saved aside for treats like ordering in pizza or for a day out and it really motivates her (and me!)
i'm going to start another jar soon where i put money that i resisted spending on junk food. the money will be saved up to buy myself new clothes as i lose weight... i did this years ago and found it an excellent motivator :T0 -

Yes, the whoopsies aren't as good as they used to be!!! £1.25 off a £5 item, er no thanks!!! :rotfl:
when you go to mr t's 2 hours before closing on new years eve, get cheesed off at how pathetic their whoopsies are then 'accidentally' let it slip out just loud enough (after hearing the manager ask the sticker person why things aren't clearing out' ) that if they'd give us a reasonable discounted price they wouldn't be having that problem...
then walk away with a smug smile on your face having seen their gaping jaws
then come back 10 minutes later to see much better prices than before MUAHAHAHAHA0 -
I have always wondered about boiling water for tea everytime you need it as in Africa we boil once and put in a thermos flask and last for at least 12hours . You then have enough for at least a day and save on electricity. Any good?
I am practically weeping right now as only just found out about quidco on this thread and we switched gas/elec suppliers last week!!!!:eek::eek: Wish I could undo it somehow
As a 'tea pedant' the water has to be freshly boiled each time, but okay for coffee.
Also checking skips of neighbours having building work done for wood that can be burnt in the woodburner.
