Cheapest line rental with anytime call package

Does anyone have any tips for the cheapest line rental plus anytime call package?

As far as I can tell, BT are the best value for money. Surely this can't be right??!

All I need is:
- Line rental
- Unlimited calls to landlines and 0870/0845 numbers

I do not require any broadband.

I found Madasafish via a google search, but they were only £1 cheaper than BT and I'm not sure if they provide free caller ID and 1571 style answerphone service.

Any advice?

BT can also offer you £36 credit on your first/second bill for new customers . Call them and ask for Customer Options Team.

Also with BT you can use an indirect supplier like www.18185.co.uk to place some calls cheaper.Other suppliers dont have to allow access.
  • BT own MAAF! since they have bought them over the company has gone down the pan! I have been with them for years and as a result of the last few months i have had enough. They have been double /Triple charging for months on my DD and would have continued doing so if i had not noticed. Then, they will only refund what you identify as over charges so you need your bank statements going back months. There are many more like me that they have been stealing money from, and i am in the process of reporting them to their regulator.

My advice is to avoid them, they are a truly awful company now!

Yes, I thought that for the sake of a few pence a month it would be better to stick with BT. Plus BT gives you the free Caller ID, 1571 voicemail, etc and include 0870/0845 numbers in their package.

So does this really mean that BT is the best value for money for a landline and unlimited landline call tariff? Note that I'm not interested in packages that are bundled with broadband or international calls etc.

All I can say is.... WOW. I would never have thought I would end up saying the phrase "BT is the best value for money"!

For the 24/7 inclusive call package BT charge £4.99 per month plus line rental, which has a monthly cost of £11.54 . The total price you pay is £16.53 per month. The line rental price applies only if you pay by Direct Debit or monthly payment plan and elect for paper-free billing. To get the caller display and voicemail at no charge you have to make a certain amount of calls each month/quarter.

So if you get the £36 credit effectively your paying £13.53 a month in total. for 12 months.

So £13.53 is the price you have to beat.:D

    Sounds good, but....
I'm already a BT customer so prob can't get the £36 credit?

Also, I think it's £4.99 if you sign up for 12 months. I'm currently paying £5.99 as my 12 months is up already, but am reluctant to enter into another 12 month commitment unless I really have to...

    Any further thoughts/ideas? :-)

You can get the anytime call plan for £3.99 on a 12 month contract.
The £36.00 credit is for any customer who takes a new contract not just new customers.

Is their a link to the £3.99 offer. Is it a rolling contract?

No you can only get the offer by calling BT customer options team (same people that give the £36.00 credit).

It is a 12 month auto renewable contract like the evening and weekend offer.

0800800030 option 1 to get it but you have to ask for it.

When you say "auto renewable" contract, does that mean that at the end of 12 months, they sign you up automatically for another 12 months again?

Hold on a minute........... one more question too......

£3.99 x 12 months minus a £36 credit = £12..... so basically you're getting the anytime call package for £1.00 per month????!??!?!?!?!??!?!?! Surely this isn't right... is it??!?!!
