hi everyone!
Newbie on this board but in need of some advice as I have an ongoing saga with Three mobile broadband.
During the summer I signed up with them to get a dongle at £15/month for 15 GB and I was fairly happy with it. However, I moved house in November and since I have been completely unable to use it. I have spent several hours on the telephone talking to technical support etc and they have concluded there doesn't seem to be much they can do .... I angled for them to cancel the contract but they claimed they were doing some upgrading work in the area and my connection ability may change in the next month ....... the caller refunded what I was paying etc. A month+ has gone by and nothing has changed.
I have written a letter to send to them requesting in writing that they cancel my contract because they can't provide me the service - this is it.
Dear Sir/Madam.
I am writing to in order to complain at the complete lack of service I have received this past 3-4 months. I took out a contract with you for a Three dongle on the DATE and had a excellent standard of service. However, I moved house ?? And I have been unable, despite speaking to your troubleshooting team on several occasions, to regain service.
Furthermore, I visited my parents home in the POSTCODE area of Lancashire and despite the service strength, according to your website, being excellent I was unable to receive a satisfactory standard of service. Again I spoke to your troubleshooting call centre and for a short time it seemed the problem was resolved. I was not able to regain a connection and I made alternative arrangements.
I wish to end my contract with Three as its obvious that I am not going to be able to access a reasonable standard of service in the near future.
Yours sincerely,
ME
Any advice would be greatly appreciated on better wording etc as this is just a pain in the @rse.

I only viewed as Three must be the worst mobile company I've ever had the misfortune to come across.
Have been trying for some weeks now to top up my sons mobile.
I have no idea of the details on your contract but wish you every luck with this bunch of clowns. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

It's the problems with setting up mobile broadband and moving. The network isn't as reliable as connecting to a landline. Unfortunately I feel 3 might be within their rights to hold you to your contract :P.0

I have just canceled mine, it's not worse being with 3, their customer service is pretty bad too. Is there an particular reason you need to use the mobile BB? I have just signed up with the BT free line installation, so I only have to pay 11.25 a month for the line and then I signed up with o2 BB through Top Cashback making my BB connection 20 pounds for the whole year. So I am now in effect paying less than I was.0

hi,
I have actually moved into a house which has provided a Virgin media connection which I am using, I was prepared to pay for the dongle as well so that I could use it in the uni library (saving me messing up my connection when I change over to their Wi-fi) and go home to my parents house but I am not paying for something I am not receiving!0 -
Three are shocking but you signed a contract and they can hold you to it.
Is the dongle faulty or is there no coverage?
Does the dongle work outside or upstairs near a window?
Dongles are poor indoors - Use an extension cable and get it high or outside.0 -

I have absolutely no coverage! Upstairs, downstairs etc its all the same, this house seems to be made of unpentratable steel.0 -

What about outside?
If you house has no signal inside that's not 3's fault.
My TV won't receive a signal inside - The ariel is on the roof.
Back to the problem.
Can you get a signal outside? If so there are things you can do.
If there is no signal outside compare this to the postcode checker on the three website. If there is no signal outside and 3 thinks there is - Then you MAY have a case.
The 3 coverage map does state that the broadband coverage is based on OUTSIDE signals in some areas.
If you are not in a coverage area then there is nothing you can do.
If your dongle is faulty, 3 will replace it.
If your computer/software is at fault, thats not 3s problem either.
Diagnose the problem, then tackle that - Folks on here will help you.
I use a 5 meter USB extension cable when I use my dongle away from home and put the dongle out of a window- Without it, the signal is poor.

Mobile Broadband uses a radio signal. The strength of signal will vary depending on where you are, weather conditions and the construction of the building. If you need a stronger signal strength and improved download speeds, here are some things you can try:- To ensure you get the best from your dongle, treat it like an aerial. Think about the positioning (e.g. upstairs will be better than a basement flat)
- Using the USB cable that came with your dongle will help to reduce interference from your computer and should make your signal stronger
- Some rooms get a stronger signal than others, depending on thickness of walls. The more windows a room has, the better
- You could also buy a wireless router, which can relay the signal. It can be plugged into a room with a good signal strength. The dongle is then plugged into the router and up to 4 computers can use it around the house.
- You can also check what level of coverage you can expect in your area on our coverage checker.
