Mine was canceled, called up and they put the order through a second time and informed me that I'd already been charged for the canceled order so wouldn't be charged for the second one.

Didn't receive any dispatch email or anything at all informing me of any of this, but took their word for it that they would arrive by the 15th at the latest, and they arrived today :)

    HTH!

(Have to admit, I read the first chapter of the first book today and was a little disappointed! The writing style seems quite juvenile and doesn't seem like the sort of quality you'd get from an accomplished writer, and certainly not the sort of prose I was expecting after the TV series... But that's just my first impression from one chapter! I will persevere with it and hope it gets better ;) The TV series was fantastic!)

Having just started reading, I agree, bit disappointed with the writing style, no wonder people are reading them quick, it's a bit like a teen book so far!

I ordered mine on 28/12 and I received them on Friday of last week. Excellent value, got the free delivery, 10% off and quidco - bargain!!

    I had a despatch email on 4/1.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the writing style is juvenile!

I thought it was maybe because I don't generally read this type of book, I'm a total fantasy nerd/graphic novel geek usually, but the fantasy books I read tend to be more epic/mediaeval/mythological/alien-world affairs.

The last time I read anything similar to this was a good few years ago when I was in my early-mid teens, when I was reading Anne Rice and Poppy Z Brite, but this seems incredibly, well... tame and quite puerile compared to them.

Delivery is supposed to be 5 - 7 working days but it does state that it might vary at peak times. Really hope they arrive before my holiday.

Question for those who have read - does the TV show spoil the books or the other way around at all? It's been my TV highlight of last year so I don't know which should come first now - I'll read 1 and 2 on holiday but then what - wait for the show or read on? Dilemma

Just read book one and OH says that the book finished in the same place as Series 1 finished. Maybe someone who has read more and seen other series can help
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • Yes you're right charlies_mum. The 1st series did end at the same point but there is a few differences between book and tv.
