Martin, I was told about the site weeks before I was brave enough to actually try to navigate my way round it. The front screen as it is is quite intimidating to a technophobe like me.
I like the changes a lot and I think they make the site much more accessible.
I'm pleased about the disability access. When I've tried to increase the font size, I get everyone's signatures all big but the posts stay the same font size.
Well done to the team. I like it a lot. No criticisms that I can think of.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I see a few people say the main site is too busy. I've always figured that there is so much useful information in so many areas on the main site, that the front page has got to have lots of links. Otherwise, there would be too much chance of people missing a key moneysaving section that applies to them.
I find it very odd that someone would skip the main site where all the moneysaving articles are, and come straight to the forums. It's almost like they haven't understood the main purpose of the site. I always took the forums to be an added bonus on top of the main articles and weekly email, not the main purpose of the site.
I like the look of the new MSE. Very nice revamp. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

To me it seems like the new site would be extremely easy to use - looks like it's all there yet well simplified due to being well organized. I liked the choice of one colour for general links and peripherals highlighted in a different colour. But I cannot find a link to our blessed forum to chat and forgive my ignorance please what does disability access mean?

Well done MSE officials
I think that because all the links are larger that means someone who is not all that nimble with their hands can get the links better rather than having one of those small "click me" links. Disability access includes many things. It includes layout, design, organisation , the text size, zoomability, the structure so that web readers for the visually impaired can access the site more comfortably and the html that makes it easier. We're working through as best we can as part of the build.
All you've seen is an early snapshot of the homepage design - its part of a bigger structural and coding reorganisation.

In terms of usability and disability access, it's good to see the "more" and "click here" type links have gone."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
