How can I tell if my CD is a fake

I ordered the new Robbie Album from a seller on Price Minister. It was priced at £5.66, I used a £5 off voucher, however that is not the point. The issues I have so far:

1. Condition was described as 'used in good condition', it came today but arrived in a plastic sleeve, with no original case etc.

2. The cd looks as though it is just printed on - I haven't got a genuine one to compare it with though.

3. The postage was underpaid by 8p, but luckily the postman just put it through the door. I'd be even more peeved if I'd had to pay an extra £1.08.

So....how can I tell if the CD is genuine?

I don't know how price mimsters returns policy works but I would be contacting the seller as even without finding out if its fake it not as described. Although it does sound like a fake. See what the seller says about your concerns

Im not too sure as I havent got anything to compare it with at the moment but I think you can usually tell if its a fake by the the plastic thats around the hole in the middle. That should have some sort of print, either a date or code, some type of text. If its a copy then the plastic would just be clear.

Also looking at the underneath of the CD. An original should be shiny like a mirror whereby a copy would have a green tint to it and also you would easily see rings where the music has been burned onto the CD. Professional CD's you dont normall see the rings.
    Comping again

It is slightly green when compared to some of my other CDs. The centre has some code, but it is just a few letters/number. My genuine CDs have far more print, and also some logos etc. I think it is definitely a copy, so I don't really want to go to the seller as they will just be able to continue selling counterfeight CDs. I am so bloody cross! I hope that I'm able to get a replacement £5 off voucher.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Have a similar question about a DS game...

Printing on box bad and misaligned. Need to look hard for the faults, but they're there.

How on earth do you say to someone you're selling a fake!?

    Reply from Price Minister:

PriceMinister actively combats counterfeiting and your purchases are protected by our anti-counterfeiting guarantee.

For us to examine your item, please send the order by recorded delivery (without a signature being required), including the original packaging, along with either the delivery order which was inside the parcel, or a print-out of this email to the following address:

    Babelstore SA
    Service AV / CTF 37406010
    57, boulevard de la Villette
    75010 Paris
    France

If your item is found to be counterfeit after varification by our anti-counterfeiting team; it will be stored and then destroyed.
You will then be reimbursed the full purchase price for your order, as well as the P&P costs (for recorded delivery).

You must return the item within 15 days. Once this deadline has passed, the transaction will be finalised and the seller paid as normal.

It is very important to wrap the items properly:

    - The packaging must be sufficiently robust to withstand any knocks, pressure or force during transportation,

    - make sure that the parcel is difficult to get into by using glue or sellotape,

    - to prevent the item being stolen, it is very important not to give any indication of the contents of the parcel on the outside of the package.

If you change your mind and wish to keep the item, please cancel the claim directly though the 'My Purchases' section of your account, by selecting the relevant order. You can then rate the seller.

sorry but all the advice you have given is way off the mark.
The plastic aorund the centre hole can contain a letters/numbers mixture of both or be absent in original disks from the publishers or aftermarket cd-/+ R.

Secondly the dye on the underside of the disk again can be any colour dependent on the disk, from a solid black, blue, purple, green or a mirror finish )plus colours in between) and again thats irelvant to telling if its a fake.

Please dont get confused or believe the publishers of music use disks that are different from what is available on the open market for anyone to buy, they are the same. The only way to tell if it is truly fake is to look for either a hologram, or look at the print quality for any flaws and you can also put it in to a computer and see if the track listings come up with there proper names rather than just 1-10, if the person copying was too lazy to type or get the names correct. Even then its still hard to tell if its fake.

There's no such thing as recorded without signature:confused: Do they just mean proof of posting? I thought there was a rule against fake CDs being sent through Royal Mail, and what happens if customs decide to open my parcel?

so HMV must sell fakes as well as the last couple of cds i have bought brand new are purple, the colour is determined by the dye used, most manufacturers use different dyes, those manufacturers supply the publishers and they also supply the open market

If anyone here has the new Robbie Williams album can you look at the disk and tell me if it has a smooth label e.g. no raised lettering etc
