What will happen next, is that they will come back, and ask to come in.

They will interview you, whilst 2 of them look around robbing you blind..
  • Well i rang the non emergency helpline as it was bugging me and the operator had no record of anyone attending our address this morning, she said thats not to say it wasnt police but she has emailed our local police to look into it and get back to me.She asked what made me call and i said by the fact it was so casual..no ID offered..the clothes and the cars..She said they should have shown ID if it was genuine not just show the back of the vest and say police.
    Im actually really worried now..x

Did they say how long they would take to get back to you?

I would have thought they would prioritize this, but if you know your local station you could always ask to be put through, though they will quiz you about why so I would be inclined to say something feasible like lost property (to get you put through,as you will have to go through the whole story to the central control again) if its a big enough station,or you have some information.I would be expecting them to get back to me very soon,or want a bit more reassurance, with someone over the phone.

I would just make sure you check who is at the door before opening it, until the police get back to you at least.

I live in a shared house once and nearly the same thing happended, I opended the door and 3 men said they were police looking for my flat 'mate'. I said he was out and to come back later.

They did, and beat him up for some drug debt - they wernt police as it turned out and I moved out that night.

you can never be too careful, I always keep the door locked now - but the window cleaner and the Jovos are the only people who come knocking now!!

It will probably be all ok.x
This is why I never open the door to strangers-I always open the door on the chain,if you are a bit remote you should too.Better still don't open it at all. make people put i/d through the letterbox or I will ask for a number to ring to confirm who they are.

That's what I like to see. A board guide giving out advice.........

that's absolute puerile nonsense and hardly likely to assuage the fears of OP . If it's an attempt at humour (which it doesn't appear to be) it's in very poor taste and NOT what I expect from someone who is meant to be a guiding hand for the boards.
Perhaps you don't think that people are affected by distraction crimes, or that victims of crime need to 'get over it'. Or perhaps you just didn't think.

Whatever your reasoning, I despair that someone with so little empathy has been designated a board guide, let alone the guide for the Armed Forces board which is sure to raise subjects attracting questionable or poor taste posting.

    Shame on you.
