Tuesday 5th January 2010 - What small DFW things have you done this weekend!?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D

Morning All,

Tuesday – yay!

· Check online banking – there should be no movement, but need to be sure
· Enter comps online
· Daily scratches
· Meals from storecupboards
· Have a NSD
· Washing on 30 – except for towels and t-shirts which need 40 to kill bugs etc
· Read more of my library book
· Need to look for any jobs at lunchtime
· Need to catch up with this forum from yesterday
· Need to eat healthily and stick to my diet
· Off to dressmaking class tonight, so need to be organised when I get home from the docs this afternoon
· Need to apply for a job that I had seen on the internet last night

Think that is about it but I am sure there is more to do, take care everyone

Morning people! Another frosty day in Sussex!

    Today I:
    • checked online banking
    • need to call the bank and get my password unlocked
    • am going into town to collect parking permits so that I don't get a parking ticket when on work business
    • may or may not do a few hrs in my 3rd job
    • need to pay some college fees
    • need to transfer some money to my mum that she kindly lent me for my new boiler
    • pay in my £2 coin collection - 1/2 on debts, 1/2 on me!
    :heartpuls CG :heartpuls
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

    Today I have/will:

    1. Checked all my bank accounts and make sure all bills etc are paid;
    2. Upgrade my phone online, it's due today and if I do it online it saves in petrol and I won't have any incidental spends in town! (Also upgraded my price plan; same price, same minutes, same texts, but unlimited free tinternet, woop, that should bring my bills down!)
    3. Had a lovely hot bath and use up some more of my massive stash of bath stuff
    4. Do some housework to save mum the job
    5. Carry on decluttering my room and finding stuff to sell!
    5. Daily scratchies

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

    hello hello hello

back in the world of communication. Having two laptops in the house now means we used up our monthly internet allowance in 4 days so have had to wait until back at work!!

Cant believe I made it in today.....car still buried somewhere under 27 thousand feet of snow so I took the bus. Bit of a marathon effort but never mind

    - [STRIKE]update sig to reflect nsd this month so far[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]save 65p by not needing to park the car[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]brought in soup for lunch ( i love you Jamie Oliver!!)[/STRIKE]
    - eat box of lindt chocolates I found in my desk drawer which I forgot I kept there as a treat for first day back blues ;)
    - [STRIKE]take down work xmas decorations[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]check banking online[/STRIKE] very poor :o
    - [STRIKE]check for freebies[/STRIKE] bagged a couple of freebie cinema tix for next week
    - check all emails and facebook to catch up with friends
    - [STRIKE]charge mobile at work[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]read free paper on bus[/STRIKE]

    Morning all :hello:

Today is a spend day  but it is a planned one. I had arranged to meet a work friend for lunch but I can still do it DFW style so today: -
    • Have lunch with my friend but that's it - lunch only and no extra splurging in department stores. Done!
    • When going out today, leave Mr Plastic in the drawer again. Done
    • Put up a blind in my kitchen that I've left since I moved in last July - should keep more heat in and help me keep bills low:D Done
    • Online banking checked and all ok.
    • Checked MBNA to see if RBS have made a payment to clear the balance - balance transfer to RBS - 15 months at 0% :D. Not done yet but that will be down to the holiday period.
Doesn't seem that much today but when I compare it to what I would have done a few weeks ago it's a huge step.

Have a good day all :T

    Morning all!
Woke up to about 8 inches of snow!
Battled to school (not too far) only to find its shut - just the head in poor bloke! Got stuck in the snow on the way back (luckily it was in my street) and had to get pushed by a bloke down the road. The snow is up to the dog's armpits and he can't walk in it (was funny watching him try though , looked like a little lamb trying to bounce his way out of it!)

Never mind I can start on the new uni assignment and get a bit ahead of myself.

    Today I will/have...
    • Checked the bank - bursary has been paid:T
    • Did budget last night and think if I am frugal in January I'll be back on track (weather is putting pay to most plans so far so going ok!)
    • Play with dog to stimulate him and try to get him a bit of exercise whilst he can't go out walking (or swimming in his case)
    • Do some work on uni assignment
    • Have tea made as a batch on Sunday (cheese and potato pie)
    • Been to shop on trek back from school and spent £4 on bread and milk (did need milk but joined in with panic buying and bought 2 instead of one in case we get snowed in for longer)
    • Do any surveys that come
    • Have a bath tonight using Xmas smellies stock
    • Look for teaching jobs
That's it for today - at least in the snow I can't spend money!
