Is there any point trying to make a claim?

On a final noteThis board is here for help and support for those on or looking to claim benefits, not for judgement.

It's not for narrow minded people to swoop down on a poster like a flock of judgemental harpies to criticise on the basis of guesses and assumptions.0 -

I agree with you, I really do. But I also think it is ill advised for somebody with a substantial amount of capital to suggest they are being left to 'freefall into financial oblivion'0 -

TBut perhaps YOU know of a University nursing course that lasts less than one tax year?! No? Didn't think so. Perhaps you should engage your brain BEFORE trying to pick holes in other people's posts?!

All that really needs to be said is that the OP will not be able to get any means-tested Benefits if they have over £16k worth of capital, and that with capital between £6 and £16k Benefits will be reduced on a sliding scale.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Question answered.
To be fair, the OP introduced the discussion element herself by her comments
"I feel like I'm left to free-fall into financial oblivion, my London flat is expensive and all the bills are difficult to pay for. All I can see online is that I get nothing! Am I supposed to wait for all the money to go *!!!!!!* into thin air? This is not what my mother would have wanted as she worked hard all of her life for this!"
She didn't actually just ask a straight question about eligibility and, in fact, knew the information you've given above before she posted!0 -
