Help!! Going Nuts with Outlook Express!!!

Help! need some advice please. I am going bonkers trying to figure out why my Outlook Express is taking an eon to load. If I try to access it without dial up it takes ages and initially opens in fragments. I have also noticed that when starting up the computer everything takes longer to load. I currently have Avast anti virus, Ewido anti-spyware and automatic updates from Windows. Have tried removing the Avast because I thought it might be slowing things down and this has not worked. Downloaded Ewido to try and elimate spyware which found some stuff but has not cured the problem. Tried defragmenting and disk error stuff - nothing! Any ideas would be welcome!

What operating system is running on your personal computer?

Are you running more than 1 firewall?

I was just about to post almost the very same question! I am having exactly the same problems, Windows XP seems to take ages in booting up, and trying to download mail in Outlook Express is enough to drive you crazy! I have defragged, run spybot adaware etc and nothing found. I also have done a disk clean and compacted folders in Outlook Express. Below just one of the messages I receive when I attempt to download. I DO get the mail eventually.............. just takes forever:mad:

Header download for the 'Inbox' folder did not complete. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: '', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12002, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: '', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12002, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

I do hope someone can point us in the right direction! bye the way I only have one firewall, and run Avast anti Virus

This can cure all manner of probs too....

    Re-register the following .dll files:
    Softpub.dll
    Wintrust.dll
    Initpki.dll
    Dssenh.dll
    Rsaenh.dll
    Gpkcsp.dll
    Sccbase.dll
    Slbcsp.dll
    Cryptdlg.dll

To re-register these files, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
    3. At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER after each line:
    regsvr32 softpub.dll
    regsvr32 wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 initpki.dll
    regsvr32 dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
    4. Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in FileName succeeded.
    5. Type exit.
  • Am on Windows XP, have only windows firewall, have not got any new programs, have compacted OE folders, and have tried Zahc's re-register of files. Still no luck.

    Might be messenger stopping it.

Download this file and double click it to run.

Can anyone remember anything about 'bay servers'? I'm sure I read something in a mag about this problem and it mentioned them. No idea what they are or do, sorry. Might jog someones memory!
