Hi guys. A friend of mine recently bought one of these for her son for Christmas. (Next Netbook) Her son wants to get onto Youtube, Facebook and other sites that use flash, the trouble is the internet browser ( a strange version of firefox i've never come accross before) does not have flash installed and finding and installing it seems almost impossible! Anyone experienced / had one of these or know how to fix it? Thanks in advance! - One slightly embarassed computer science student

Thanks but i've tried that. @ Dime Bar - It is an Elonex - i'll check it out now though as i'm not sure what model it is. The instructions that come in the box say they can play online flash games and watch youtube videos - which is what i don't understand.Like what I said? click thanks!:rotfl: :rotfl:

If its anything like hte Acer Aspire One, you need to drop into the root shell and install from the commandline.
Is there an option to get onto the commandline. If so, could you type
uname -a
and post the response here. It will something not totally dissimilar to:
Linux hostname 2.6.31-xx-generic-pae #48-Ubuntu SMP <date> UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux0 -
It's an Elonex OneT. It's not capable of running Flash player.0

Barely. My old nokia n95 is more powerful than that netbook.
My old eee 701 sometimes has a mard when viewin youtube/iplayer etc at 630mhz, and I think the netbook above is a risc based processor. I'd be surprised if someone has recomplied flash to work on it.0 -

Seems like even the linux used is partial crippleware. I'd hazard that with 128mb ram and that 'interesting' CPU, YouTube isn't really an option even if you get Flash installed.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

There's stuff on the www about that laptop not being able to support flash.
It seems that a workaround for YouTube is to download the videos and watch them using the media player that's installed.
Also this:-To play youtube install VideoOnline from here (butom of the page:)
