My Mum is looking for an inexpensive new car replacement for her Picasso.
Did some showrooms and she's fallen for the new Fiat Panda.
The girlfriend is on the other end of the scale. 12 year old Micra on its last legs and it needs replacing.
Is there anything to stop the GF and me from buying the Panda using the Micra as £2K part exchange scrappage, then signing the new Panda over to my Mum in return for half of the scrappage allowance that will then serve as a deposit as a replacement for the girlfriend's Micra ?

No
Only thing is the Panda will have two owners in quick succession.0 -
Nope - you'd be putting an extra owner on a brand new car (not really a big deal) but apart from that I see no issue.
edit - beaten to it :rotfl:0 -
if your mum intends on keeping the car for a long while the 2 owners on the v5 really wont matter, and if she was to sell it privetly and explained what you did to the new buyer they would understand why it was doneEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Agree with the above.
If your mum is going to keep the car a couple years or more then it will make no difference at all. No different to buying a pre reg from a dealer.0 -
appreciate the comments.... this seems too easy....0

Just one additional piece of info; If the new car is written off in it's first year, because it has technically been pre - owned, the insurers will not replace it with a new car.0

good bit of info inactive, what about going to another dealer not the one you intend to buy from and go in as if your going to buy a new car uing the scrappage scheme from them and see what they say about putting the car straight in your mums name, ask them if its possible, if they agree then its possible the dealer you intend to buy from may agree to do so aswell, or you could phone them and see what they sayEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Why not transfer the Micra to your mum, send the V5 to DVLA etc. then she can buy the Panda as normal with scrappage scheme0

I am fairly sure that it isn't possible to do that, I may be wrong.;)0
