Sue, I'm dying to know who your cousin is...and Cazmania, your friend who writes for M&B Modern. Wondering if they are authors I read.

There's an unusual M&B competition coming up but not many details yet.
See M&B author Michelle Styles' blog for the link (a google search will give you her blogspot address)

I'm targeting Intrigue and I'm registered as CarolineJ on the Harlequin and Mills & Boon forums, but don't post there that often.

My Modern-writing friend uses the name Kate Hewitt.
  • I've had an idea for Historical Undone... (I also write much, much racier stuff and have an ebook coming out soon... but it's the sort of stuff I don't tell my mum about!!! ;-)

I know Kate Hewitt! ( katharine Swartz) I love her books and have them all. She's such a good writer. She who used to live in England a few years ago and wrote stories/serials for women's magazines before selling to M&B. She really knows how to write.

Congrats on the e- book coming out.

Undone sounds a great way to break into M&B--and there's not too much time wasted if it's not accepted --15,000 words isn't too daunting.

I've had a lot of problems where I get this really good idea, do all the research etc, start writing then get a better idea and go off the first one. Before I know it, I've begun another book and another.........

    Any one else do this?

She writes really well doesn't she? We were in the same online writing group for years and met a couple of times before she left to go back to the States.

Anglea, I do much the same, only not with so many ideas, I've got a couple that I've had on the go for ages now. I'm hopeful that this thread will help me actually finish them. So I've picked one (a romance) and I'm trying to work on it methodically, doing a little every day. If I get another idea I write out the basic idea and put it aside and go back to the romance I'm working on

I'm going to try and keep posting here with updates. This week my daughter has been home and I've not got anything done

It depends on which line it is. If you go to their aspiring authors page:

    http://www.millsandboon.co.uk/aspiringauthors.asp

and click the link for the line you want, it'll tell you in the header of that line's page. e.g.

    MILLS & BOON® MODERN ROMANCE™
    (HARLEQUIN PRESENTS®)
    Length: 50,000
    Executive Editor: Tessa Shapcott
    Senior Editor: Bryony Green
    Editor: Jenny Hutton
    Editorial Assistant: Flo Nicoll
