Orange Out Here

I have had Orange Out Here for many years now. It's good yes, but I now need minutes rather than texts.

I have had a phone number for many many years and need to keep it. How ever, they cannot 'move' the Out Here to another sim or anything.. I spoke to a number of people and just wouldn't budge!

I asked to go through to retentions, and got them to give me the following:

1 Month Contract (just a short term one). It'll last up to 24 months.
600 X-Net Mins
Unlimited Landline Calls
1100 Texts

all for 15 quid a month.

My questions are:

1. What do you all think of this offer? I've taken it up anyway, but still keen to get opinions.

2. What do you think about me getting rid of the Orange Out Here? (the 5 free texts a day for life....) Orange must hate that package!!!

Thanks guys!
Matt.

Never heard of "Orange Out Here" till now, 5 texts free is peanutes now, might have meant something a few years back.

Your deal is ok for £15 but did you get a new phone with that - persumably not as its 30 day rolling contract?
  • If you NEED to keep your number, and NEED more minutes, then Orange Out Here probably isn't for you. I've got it on an old SIM with an old number, but I just keep it as a spare because I know that it'll always be free, and in conjunction with a solar-powered charger, I'll always have a phone that will never cost me anything to use ;)

But seriously, why not post back HOW MANY minutes and texts you need? And how much you're topping up your OOH sim at the moment? Maybe then we can all work to find you a good deal.

    Thanks guys! :D

There was no phone included no..

I was thinking 600 minutes was just what I need, 1100 texts was not necessary, and the free calls to landlines was a bonus.

Do you think I could have snapped up a phone to go along with that for a little extra money? I use a windows mobile PDA style phone, so it's either a new WM device, or the current one (SPV M600).

I currently spend about 12 per month as it is, and that's kinda being stingy (I will text people and have them call me haha!!). I really am on the phone in total for about 400-500 mins a month. What you all think then?

Again, I am grateful for responses recevied so far!

You cannot get free phone with 30 day contracts (well I saw one once but that deal went ages ago).

There are cheaper deals than what you entered into but not with the extra unlimited landline minutes I suspect (but then will you ever need that given you have 600 free minutes).

hi, i have the out here and i have had it for about ten years.
they wouldn't offer me anything either, a soon as you change your plan, your sim or your number it has gone, so unfortunatley there is nothing we can do, other than keep the sim going for your free 5 texts per day for life!
how about a dual sim card phone!

Lets say I get rid of the Landline minutes, how much would it be worth then??

My thought now is that maybe this is not such a great deal!

As a long time Orange Customer (6 years or so), reasonably, what sort of deals could I expect do you all think? I would love to get a new phone and pay extra. I wouldn't mind being tied down for 12 months or whatever (but 24 is just too much).

It seems Orange don't have any Windows PDA Phones or anything. They certainly don't have the HD2 :(

Shop around look at dialaphone, phones4u, mobiles2yourdoor, buymobilephones.net - there are plenty of cheaper deals with basic phones (even 12 month offers).
  • I'm in a very similar situation to this atm.
I have the old 'out here' plan with 5 free texts a day but i find now that i'm topping up between £10 and £20 a month, mostly for texts, when i only used to used about £5 to £10 a month.
I've looked on the orange website at the Dolphin 15 sim only pack (don't need a new phone) with 200 anytime minutes and unlimited texts for £15 on a 1 month contract, after ringing orange to query the keeping new and/or package to find i can only keep my number and not the old out here package.

So, i'd like to keep my number and take up the £15 1 month contract deal (as i should also now get my orange internet free as well i believe if i do?)
but as i've never had a contract phone in my life i'd love some advice.
Is it best to go through quidco and sign up for that package and then get my internet sorted out or am i better ringing customers services back, ignoring quidco and seeing if they'll offer something better??
I have no idea as i say i've never had a contract phone in my life and don't know if they offer these sort of things?? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks :)
