GP Records and Critical Illness

"She plans to ring them on Monday: should we try and put a stop to this as I am a bit concerned that she may have lulled me into some sort of "trap".
Correct, she has, she will be planning to have your Full Medical History and looking for other ways to refuse your claim.Campaigning to recycle Insurance Policies into Toilet Paper :rotfl:

Hmm. I feel a bit ambushed as the nature of my illness means I struggle to process information and get very easily confused. What I do know, is that I would not ever have answered a question when applying for insurance dishonestly - but how I can prove this I don't know.
Should I try and stop the GP speaking until I am clearer about the implications and whether the insurance can query the dates of one policy to stop them paying out on a different one?0 -
First things first, she may phone the GP, but as far as I’m aware the GP isn’t at liberty to discus it over the phone with the IC.
If the insurance company want further information (and that’s the road they appear to be leading you) in order to further your claim, it has to be in writing.
I am not sure what your GP knowledge on the joint ABI/BMA guidelines are, I therefore aint sure what history she would think pertinent to release. What I can predict is that the IC will do their best to get your Full Medical History, and if the smoking issue is a no goer for them they will attempt to worm out some other way.
They would limbo dance under a grass snakes belly to avoid payments.
I would phone the surgery to inform them the IC plan to contact them due to clarifying your smoking history.
I would inform the Surgery/GP of what your history is, ie stopped smoking when pregnant month year, until present time or not etc, after all the GP wouldn’t be fully aware
I would take a copy of your history, in writing to the surgery and mark it FAO your GP.
Then I would wait for the IC to contact with a decision,
I defiantly would NOT keep in contact with the claims handler/ IC bartering, b over the phone, before you know it they will want to know what colour underwear you are sporting, all they are doing is fishing for excuses
As it stands (well as I understand it) the IC admit you have met their criteria for a stroke, and that the only concern is about a disagreement in you smoking history.
I would write to them and ask for their full and final decision on your claim based on this understanding, so that you have something to work with.Campaigning to recycle Insurance Policies into Toilet Paper :rotfl:
