For me, has to have Triple Sec other than Cointreau, as not a 'Margarita' imo.

I love Margaritas, nice with Grand Marnier too instead of Triple Sec.

It really does matter what type of Triple Sec you use as well. I find that Cointreau works the best. Also I prefer it with dark tequila over white tequila. I use a combination of a v. good quality lime cordial (Roses I think) and fresh lime juice.

Now I want to get plastered....again

If you read the back of the Cointreu Bottle it is actually Triple Sec. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cointreau

I'm going to have to start label reading. ;)

I guess my OH must've bought the right brand of triple-sec as it was perfect, and didn't taste like the cointreau I remember. Perhaps they do vary. I'll have to make sure we get the same brand again. :D

What I would like to know, is Dark Tequila a lot better, as I have never tried it. What does it add to the taste?

Let me know what brand it is when you find out please! . I can't explain the taste difference between the 2 but it's a bit like the difference between White and Dark Rum & coke, it just has more "character"!

Just asked OH, and he can't remember. I've just looked at Tesco online, and from what I can remember its the only one they do; Soiree Triple Sec £8.48 for 50cl. Its a lot lighter/fresher, which is what I prefer, as opposed to Cointreau.

Everybody seems to like their Margaritas differently, a matter of personal choice, but for me 1:1:1 is the best, as I like a good citrus flavour.

The one in tesco's that is currently £3.50 was at least £9 about 3 weeks before christmas but good old B&M always have it for £2.99!
To infinity and beyond - but mostly to Tesco!:D
