Post office/first direct lost my money

In 2004 i paid £200 into my Lloyds TSB account via one of those little hole in the wall quick deposit things they have. The money however never showed up in my account and they ran rings around me for months causing me all kinds of worry and stress, not to mentional financial hardship for the next 2 months, EVEN THOUGH i was on their cctv camera making the deposit into my account. Apparently hard evidence like that was not even enough to ensure my problem was sorted. Needless to say, i never did see the money again, and i had to drop the case as the amount off stress it was causing me was not worth the £200. I guess there are theives everywhere....0

If they don't get their fingers out their back ends soon i will contacting the financial ombudsman. God i am annoyed. Hubs is about to quit his job so the money would really come in handy.0

I bet you're in Scotland! I found a press release (talking about something else) that says that the PO does provide banking services for first direct, but only in Scotland.0

Yes i am in Scotland. Thank you for clarifying that - i was starting to feel like it was my fault!!0

In that case, and I know it is a silly thing to say..make sure when you call First Direct you mention several times you are in Scotland. I don't know if all the calls go to the same call centre in the uK, but if they do then they may be working to the UK service, and ignoring the Scottish differences.
If necessary just inform them that you want to go to the ombusdman as you used a service backed by them and can't afford to hang around waiting for your money to be found.

The people i speak to are in Glasgow as far as i am aware and they ask me my address so i believe they should know. My husband is dealing with it from now on. I have visited the ombudsman website and got very confused - seems like they will only step in if the company has given their final word on the matter. I can't get them to give me their first word!0

Hiya
I am a customer of First Direct, and my suggestion is whilst staying calm, raise merry hell about it. A couple of years ago, they failed to put a change of address in place after I moved on some of my savings accounts. I discovered it when I couldn't get my hands on a new paying in book, and finally with a bit of pestering discovered what had happened.
Now, basically I caused a good bit of polite grief, they changed the details on the accounts (so they couldn't be used) and got a very nice apology of a couple of bottles of £25 wine....
Hope the suggestion helps - they always seem a fairly nice bunch, and at least they are still in Blighty!
