Cat6 is more protected and not as flexible as Cat5E.

Cat5E UTP would be more than enough for a PS3.

    thanks mate

i like the sound of it being more protected, so cat 6 sounds good.....

but whats the diff between these two?...

10m cat6 STP ethernet network cable shielded is £9

10m cat 6 UTP ethernet network LAN patch cable is £4 ??

assuming you're not talking very long lenghts almost anything will do, make sure its a 'normal' type and not crossover, don;t pay more than £1-£2 for it.

    ebuyer.co.uk will sell you a 3m cable for £1 and 5m for £1.50,

Well the price as you stated.

And STP is more shielded thats why it cost more. UTP not shielded therefor its cheaper.

STP = Shielded Twisted Pair, UTP = Unshielded Twisted Pair,

    10m of UTP costs £2.80, 10m of STP costs £3 :)

ahhhh but the £3 STPs only come in yellow, a red one costs £3.30 and OP might have a colour scheme to co-ordinate :p

    thanks guys

(i do want a black one!)

i checked out ebuyer and to get a 10m cable from them, the next day would be £11+

even if i waited 5 working days it would be £6.60 and that is for a UTP one not a shielded STP one...

the one i saw was from ebay and would get delivered the next day, so i think ill go for that one

thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
