WARNING: I WORK FOR THE TELECOMS COMPANY MENTIONED IN THIS THREAD, AND AM THEREFORE BY DEFINITION EVIL BECAUSE I WORK IN TELECOMMS - READ WITH CAUTION.djohn2002uk wrote:Well, you could have fooled me.
It just so happens that I genuinely believe that 4.99 for a UK anytime call package represents good value for money.
They're such a relatively small company (40,000 customers), I wouldn't know about them if I didn't work for them! I've lived in Worthing all my life, 30 seconds walk from the office, and even having lived in the same place for 5 years, walking past their headquarters pretty much every day and I didn't know they existed, even though they've been there for 6 years!
I'm not biased in their direction - far from it. If there's a better solution - I will put that forward.
See this post on the 3rd of this month, for instance: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=2420220#post2420220
I'm saddened by the negative response from djohn2002uk and pricefighter - I was merely sharing information about a relevant tariff, I do not benefit if anyone signs up with [company name removed by macminiuser].
As a result of the above linked post are all the more suspicious-minded forum goers going to forge the conspiracy that this [company name removed by macminiuser] thing is all a facade and I actually work for Primus?
I'll ask the question again: Just because I work for them does that mean I shouldn't tell people about anything useful they might be able to offer as and when appropriate?Fasthosts ruined my life0 -

I am sorry to hear of your sadness. If you had declared in this particular thread that you were an employee of the outfit you were extolling the virtues of ,i would of course not have made my observation.
Have you read the WARNING at the top of this page.
"This is an open forum, posts aren't endorsed by Moneysavingexpert.com, pls exercise caution when acting on any info. Posting links for personal gain is strictly prohibited, except in the 'referrers' section and any connection to a company being discussed must be revealed. "
If other posters have to declare that they have an interest in a product financial or otherwise ,i am not sure why you think you should be exempt.
I tend to remember people that say in their first post.
" I know of at least one that still charges £99 for a new line installation. I know this because I work for them, but I won't be spamming your forum! ":DPF.0 -

I'm sorry you're sad too.
Now you're talking. If you read what Heinz suggests re. 1899, 18185 and Primus, it has to be the best option for the vast majority of people.
Any scheme with a fixed monthly charge always equates to a fixed number of calls on 1899 (in this case 166 calls @ 3p) and I for one don't make 166 daytime calls/month and I suspect that neither do many others on here.
Coupled with Primus for evenings/weekends for free and I fail to see any benefit, especially this time of year when a lot of people are away from home but still paying the £4.99.0 -
I have dealt with this outfit in the past. They also trade as OneBill Telecom, different tariffs apply to their top package. £10.99 a month.

That just goes to prove I haven't tried to hide the fact I work for them, which is how you've made me feel, I just failed to explicitly mention it in that particular post.
I have deliberately avoided mentioning the company name so as to avoid having this very conversation we're having now. :wall:
I just thought that particular tariff might be appropriate to Paul in Plymouth. I will remember to put a HUGE disclaimer on any posts mentioning the company I work for in the future.djohn2002uk wrote:Now you're talking. I had taken that into consideration, but I figured that this guy is clearly a heavy user if he's spending 40 quid a month on daytime UK calls.
With an average call length of, say 5 minutes (which is quite long - our customers' average call length last month was 3 minutes), at 3p per minute he'd be making 266 calls a month (or £7.98 on 1899).djohn2002uk wrote:especially this time of year when a lot of people are away from home but still paying the £4.99
A very good point very well made - which is why, if you order over the phone, we remind customers that they can downgrade their tariff at any time to a free one online and will only be charged pro-rata for any days of the month when it is active. So you can turn it off for two weeks while you're away, and back on when you get back and only pay half the £4.99 package fee.
In any case - I know better for next time now, but I'd really appreciate it if you'd accept that I only recommended what I felt was best as an individual; even if I didn't work for them, and somehow knew about them I'd have put their offering forward.
If I were posting that message today, I'd also point out that Sky offer an anytime package for £5 a month: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=229398
(ah ha - the plot thickens... [company name removed by macminiuser], Primus were both a facade - "macminiuser is actually one of Mr Murdoch's minions!" they all cry)
Seriously though, I just feel a bit picked on because I made a mistake and I was only trying to be helpful.
Can't we all just be friends?Fasthosts ruined my life0 -

My first post only suggested that you were biased, if only a weeny bit...lol
And my second post just put forward an alternative.
Don't think that can be construed as "picking on you".
As for being friends, didn't think we weren't. There wasn't anything too unfriendly in this thread compared to some of the others on here.
Hope that has helped to remove some or all of your sadness....:kisses3: lmao
Just had another thought about your sadness.......using a Mac has that effect on a lot of people....lol0
