giving 30 days written notice to end Cphone warehouse contract

Hi guys
my contract ran out with Carphone warehouse in Nov and i have only just got around to changing the deal to tmobile. The new phone is ready to be dispatched but now i have reread an old email i think i may end up paying for both this month. Is that correct?
CPW are saying i need to ring them for a disconnection ref and then write to them with a shed load of details and ask for a PAC number....the whole process will take 30 days after they've received my letter of cancellation which i am told to send recorded delivery. They will only send me my pac number when i have paid any left over bill!! I pay monthly direct debit in the middle of the month..Is there another way to do this to avoid paying both companies and also can i cancel my d/debit now with CPW to avoid them taking any more money? Many thanks in advance.....

    Yes and no.

No, Your contract didn't run out. Your minimum term did and it changes to a 30 day rolling contract, with 30 days notice required.

YES you will have to pay both, although how much to CPW depends when the PAC is processed.

No as I said you still have a contract just no minimum term.

Call and ask for a PAC number then give that to TM. Once thats processed your CPW contract will be ended. As long as you've exceded the minimum term on your contract they cannot refuse, to be on the safe side take the name and time / date of the person you contact and if they get shirty say you need the PAC and if they cannot process it you'll take it to OFCOM. You should get the PAC ins a few days, not 30.

If you have any term left to serve they are within their rights to ask for that to be paid before they give you a PAC number.
