Asda self scan not asking for all coupons
Comments

I spent £6 in Asda, scanned my goods then realised I'd left my purse in my briefcase at home. I managed to scan £5 worth of coupons and I had a "trolley £1" in my pocket so was able to pay that way.
I wouldn't normally put that many coupons through as I think it was a bit cheeky! Here I go again on my own....0 -
Thanks everyone, I feel better today. I will try again but next time not on self scan LOL, I think that is all too much for me. Funny how I can be degree educated but can't manage to scan products and get bits of paper in holes correctly without all this drama! I thought self scan would be less scary, I do have this feeling that I am doing something dishonest with the coupons and I know that's really silly, which is why I avoided the cashier. As you all have said, it is the store who really is being dishonest by taking them to get people to buy from them, and that isn't my problem.
I was really tired when I posted yesterday, had worked 120 hours in a week and wrote really badly. I edited it out to avoid all of the confusion. What I meant to say was, thanks to this board I have never eaten so well so cheaply. I got what would have been £8.90 worth of food for £1.69 by the time I had got all of the reduced to 10p items (veggies and bread products etc) and I used the 1.49p coupon plus the 30p one. So thanks for all of your tips.
I am still a little confused about the coupons in the asda magazine which I picked up for the first time yesterday. Can those be used against any item? Or must I buy the actual items? I am guessing I do need to buy the items as it is asda and not manufacturers.:A

i've used 2 different asda stores selfscan and they had different set ups,
one asked for the voucher to be deposited right after scanning, i put the voucher in, but had to use a bit of paper to really shove it in and down the shute as it didn't recognise it at first and wouldn't let me go on until i'd inserted it to a point it recognised, there must have been a sensor or similar in the machine, but i folded them before putting them in so could have easily put a blank bit of paper in.
On the other occasion i wasnt' even asked to insert vouchers.
Other than these being at two different stores, i was asked to deposit non store vouchers, and not asked for vouchers from the asda magazine, i'm not sure if this was a difference in stores or just that anyone could get the asda magazine vouchers (there was a pile beside the till) so there was no real reason to ask for them.
I did use the asda magazine vouchers for products other than listed, (used 2 vouchers totaling £3) i think if you don't take the proverbial your ok, it's when people abuse the idea they get caught/spoil it for the rest of us

Toto, no you don't have to buy the items to use the Asda mag vouchers. My Asda does not self scan and once I have used all the vouchers in one go but at other times they will only take one or two. I have had four mags now and they are still giving them away by the trolly load. It almost takes the fun out of it!0
