Asda self scan not asking for all coupons

I have noticed that the self scan machines in asda don't ask you to put in all coupons.

Just a quick question, the asda magazine coupons, can I use them against anything I don't buy? I am new to the coupon game but I am loving it.

I dont understand what you mean...are you scanning the voucher and then no depositing it??? Be careful you could be accused of theft...me thinks!

Please don't abuse the self scans as you will spoil it for yourself and the rest of us, to not put one in and scan it again is deceitful and greedy, soory but i don't agree with it we all like to save money but this is a little OTT

I tried but it wouldn't take it. I scanned my pizza one, which it asked me for, so I put it in. I scanned the mag one, it didn't ask. I tried to put it in and it jammed the machine. The assistant came and pulled the voucher out again and gave it back to me. I'm not trying to abuse the machine, no need to, I have a few of the vouchers anyway. Until saturday I had never used a self scan or a voucher for something I hadn't bought, I don't know what I am supposed to do with them if the machine doesn't ask for the voucher?

I agree, if people go around abusing it then Asda, Tesco etc will stop taking coupons all together.

I was the opposite the other day, using Asda self scan, i put the coupon in the slot but it didn't register and kept asking for it, to save drawing attention to myself and asking for help, I put another coupon in the slot just to stop it asking. So in effect I used a coupon without getting the money off. Luckly it was only a 20p coupon.

That's happened to me too. The sensors sometimes don't pick up that you've put a coupon in there. A staff member told me to blow in the slot, to move the coupon past the sensors!
Here I go again on my own....

You are misunderstanding me! What I am saying is I have used the coupons a few times but they don't ask for them in the machine. I worded this badly. I have used the vouchers 4 times (different ones) but 4 times they didn't ask for them in the machine, what I am supposed to do with them? Yikes sorry I asked now, I am new to this and have no idea what is normal. I would have asked at Customer services but I didn't buy the magazine so I didn't want to get caught. I hope I have made myself clearer now.

As far as I know, as you scan each one you put them in the slot.
An assistant told me the machines are programmed to only accept 10% of your bill.
I`ve got my doubts that this is true.

Even if the machine doesn't ask for the coupon once you've scanned it, it needs to go in the coupon slot, that way the till adds up at the end of the day. If you get stuck, ask for help. Theres a button on the screen that you can press to get someone to you to help. Its not a problem to use a coupon, you are allowed or entitled to use coupons as you would if you were doing your shopping through a traditional manned till (as long as you're not taking the rise, that is!!)
