Valli - Can I rant too :mad: Schools been closed all week - Woke DS up at 7.30, walked up two flight of stairs again at 7.50, resorted to ringing his mobile at 8.00 and 8.10. Have now given up and going to let him panic when I wake him at 9.00 :mad::mad: I know I really should get him up now but have had enough

I'll send you DS! No-one sleeps when he is ranting!

Teens home again as school closed. I don't work Fridays anyway, but my school is closed - apparently, one member of staff is in hospital with a broken ankle, and several students who went in yesterday have also fallen. Two of the roads on my route are closed according to the radio. I'm staying indoors....

Tha garden looks really pretty. I'll ask DS1 to take some photos.

I have a list of oods and ends that I want to do, and I get to shout at the kids to do their rooms.:D

ps the shrub in my avatar is in flower in the garden, under the snow...

Valli - love your attitude - its taken me years to get like you with DD and sometimes I do resort to coming down to her level but I know that if I just say no and then ignore her it diffuses the situation big time as she hasn't got an audience for her tantrums which have been quite violent in the past

JO-JO - good luck with the Doc appointment

Quillion - thinking of you and DH and hoping you are both ok

Hugs and best wishes to everyone else and safe travelling for those going out

Off work today as part of my phased return, feeling a bit more positive having looked through the dreaded emails and managing to delete most of them because deadlines/dates had passed. Whistleblowing issue is being looked at and it has already been agreed that temp manager will never shadow the doors again!

Think I'm coming down with a cold (again), really should start eating more fruit/veg and maybe take some vitamins!
Glad things at work are being dealt with. It certainly seems a vast improvement on the way things were before you were signed off! And yes, you should be eating properly!
There is a facegroup book some of the oiks have set up with details of another kid (who I know quite well through work) getting setup for being snowballed at lunchtime. I'm going email the links to the head this morning, not sure what other staff will be in for the normal order of reporting so going straight to him on this occassion.
You've definitely done the right thing emailing the head. I'd call him and let him know too, just in case he doesn't get to his email on time. And ask them what they're doing about bullying as this should be covered by the bulling policy. Remember the school gets penalised for poor attendance figures, and concern about your children's safety is a valid reason to keep them home, so point out that you're not prepared to put them at risk. I'm sure you can make sure they do some schoolwork if you need to keep them off!

Overslept after I turned my alarm off this morning :o. It's cold and foggy outside... Trying to decide whether to dig out the car and drive 8 miles into town to go to the gym. I don't think it really counts as an essential journey, but like Valli's DS & DD I have a well-developed guilty conscience and will feel bad about not going. The personal trainer walks to work, so obviously doesn't have the problems that I will... It's not due to snow again today (too cold), but I don't really like the idea of going too far from home, just in case I can't get back!

Hope to finish the lists today and get some of my extras done. There's a lot less ice on the windows today, so presumably the dehumidifier has had the desired effect!

    today so far I have:-
    done one load of washing
decluttered, tidyed up dusted dewebbed & vacuumed the spare bedroom
cleaned bath, shower, toilet & the surfaces & dusted dewebbed & polished the mirror in the ensuite
peered in DS room & closed the door quickly!
done a quick tidy up & S & S in the other bathroom
    defraged the computer
other than doing a shopping list for DH to take to Mr S ( dont need much as I decided to follow the advice on the storecupboard challenge & have planned menus for the month based round what we have in. one of next weeks teas is a problem though as DH cooked double chilli a few nights ago but it was so popular that there is only enough for one person left instead of 3!)

  • Morning!

    DD1 hates me.

She didn't roll in until gone 10pm last night when she was expected at 5 to look after DD2 whilst I went to OU tutorial. It was cancelled at the last minute, but she didn't know that. Then she hid outside with the BF and when I kept asking her to come in, she deliberately drooled over him some more. Any more exhibitionist and she would have been able to sell a film of it.

Informed her when she eventually disengaged from his body that she was needed to look after DD2 today whilst I go to doctors. The look in her eyes told me all I needed to know. I didn't need the 'I'm 17 not 7 and I'm the only adult here and if you ground me I'm gone' stuff usually squealed as she stamps her feet, but only ever when she has the BF standing behind her. I am officially scum in her eyes.

Told her to go to bed and keep out of my sight. (the alternative would have been smacking her in the face, which appealing though it seems is rather illegal and could quite possibly have set me off onto the road of killing her). Serves me right for never raising a hand to her when she was little.

I didn't sleep much. Too angry with her.

She crept out the door at 6.55am.

She's been vile (when not totally absent) since she came back from her father's on Monday after the Christmas break.

Think she is trying to manufacture a huge row so she can 'run away' and a) go to a big drunken party this weekend which I never agreed to because she had been rude to me b) stay with boyfriend forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

So much for me being nice to him when he had problems with his parents.

And the lump hasn't miraculously disappeared overnight.

    Meh.

    *******

    So -

Cleaned kitchen and fed her dinner to the fox.

    Did Dishwasher.

    Did all bathroom stuff.

    Did all my room.

    Done the front room.

Phoned the bank and cancelled her pocket money and savings standing orders.

And carefully separated out her dirty laundry from the basket, returning it onto her bed.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
