yes stansted do have one company that pays for the monopoly for their taxi"s to be there, this doesnt come free and the drivers have to pay as well through their commission on getting those jobs, so its not expensive jsut priced to take in the factors involved, its not there fault other companies under charge taxi fares, i wish they all charged maximum rates then we could all make a decent living with good hours.
as for waiting half an hour from phoning on the spur of the moment, i think you live in cuckoo land, allowing for the time it takes to get your information and relaying that to the driver and then him arriving to you, i think its very reasonable, your just one of those thats had it to cheap for to long to appreciate the very long unsocial hours us taxi drivers work along with taking a hit for fuel increases and parking rises and abuse from idiots, just to make a living.0 -
Gixer has it spot on in the above post.
You can blame the airports themselves for the problem....I will give you an absolutely true picture of an airport...
Blackpool airport decided that their estimated passengers through the gate would be 2 million(this was about 3 years ago) for each of those passengers they expected a cab firm to pay 50p for each of those customers..regardless of whether they were getting taxis or not!!!..only one firm was mug enough to do it and ended up very close to bankruptcy and was only rescued by another firm buying the taxi firm...they had put up every owners subs and the cabs were expected to be there at all times at the detriment of all their proper customers really....they had been running at the normal fares!!!!....I was an owner on that cab firm at that time...luckily I left there before I ended up bankrupt due to the airport contract.
The airports bleed these firms dry ....there were many reasons why it cost you more.
New years day is primamry fact
Amount the firm has to pay to the airports
Lack of work...
Out of 2 million passengers not many get cabs..so it's a loss to the firms.
Boy did it take a long time to get that airport contract covered...0
