Emigrating - Mobile Phone Contract
Hi guys,
Just after a bit of advice. I've scoured the forum and found some helpful topics but would like some confirmation on the following.
I'm 5 months into a 24-month iPhone contract with O2. I'm now relocating to Australia in March 2010 and ideally would be looking to put a hold on / cancel my contract.
Judging by other posts, it seems that O2 do not allow change of ownership on contracts. Is this correct? A shame if so, as that would be my favoured option. Still, it could work if I informally sold my contract to a buddy who could always pretend to be me, right?
Do O2 allow you to put a hold on contracts? I'm guessing not, so perhaps the only real option is paying off my contract?
If only I had known that I was moving away, 'eh?! Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Many thanks in advance,
Andy.

To me, your only option is to pay off the contract and possibly sell the phone to offset the cost. I wouldn't recommend letting a buddy informally take over your contract, as you would be liable for any costs that they would run up.0

i ve had 3 more contracts for friends who didnt have debit card . no problems
if its a good buddy, try and get the average of the remaining months from them in advance , minus 15 percent to make it atractive for them0
