What upgrade should my girlfriend go for??

My girlfriend and I are both onO2. I upgraded my phone in Jan 2009 and managed to get a refurbished iPhone 3G for free.
My girlfriend is eligible for an upgrade tomorrow and also wants an iPhone, so she's going to ring them up and see what they can do as she doesn't want to pay for a phone. Our question is, what good, free alternatives are there to an iPhone on O2?
She wants a phone that is 3G enabled and has a large screen so she can surf the net. She's always on Facebook so I initially thought of the Sony C903 as an alternative, but am wondering if there are any others worth considering? She's paying £35 a month and is considered an O2 select customer.
Do O2 stock the HTC Hero?
