I'm just getting my kitchen done too. I've just ordered myself a sink from Plumbworld, looks nice to me, but I don't know what other people think. http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/franke-leman-lmx651-15-bowl-1996-20455 I'm trying to decide on cookers. I'm getting a homebase kitchen, but the only unit for built under cookers says single, not double and I want a double cooker.

    Hi

A double built under oven doesn't actually need an oven housing unit, depending on the model you choose it could sit on angle brackets fixed on the units each side or the fitter will need to build a plinth for it to sit on. To be fair any half decent kitchen designer should know this and be able to advise the customer.

    Anyway, good luck.

Our kitchen is 21 years old now....wow, time doesn't half fly!!!.....anyway....just wanted to say that we have Franke sinks and taps (we also have a "granny flat") and they are both
still looking good and working perfectly. so can recommend them.

We have the Ikea cheapest range sinks in our Guide Hall, and I can see they are not as good. Not as thick and not as easy to clean. I think a heavy Guide has sat on the drainer of one of them, it has sunk down!!! But the taps seem good. No problems in 5 years.

I must however say.......one thing I would NEVER have in my kitchen is a Belfast sink! I really do not understand why they are so sought after!

Remember you need to connect the wastes from both bowls, as well as leave clearance for dishwasher and/or washing machine waste hoses. Most people go for 1000mm wide cabinets, but you can cut into the cabinet partition as much as you want, if you go for two 600mm cabinets. It's just about possible to use two 400mm cabinets with a 1+1/2 bowl sink, but you really need to plan carefully.

The LYRA 2 waste kit for Franke sinks is neater than the white standard waste. I wasted a whole day going round plumbers merchants, and had to order the LYRA 2 online in the end. The first website didn't have stock, so I ordered from another website after two weeks. Three weeks for a waste kit! Have the kit before you start installation, so you know how it goes.

I put in a Franke 1+3/4 sink, and a tall handspray tap.
The tall tap was too heavy: the sink flexes! I reinforced it at the mounting point. Try to arrange the dishwasher or washing machine under the drip tray, otherwise the waste hose won't reach.

I went for an In-Sink-Erator hot/cold filtered water dispenser tap, with the heater and filter cartridges screwed onto the cabinet backwall.

I also have tilting bins that tilt out when you open the door: they fit under the sink, and JUST miss the LYRA 2.
I made sure the plug hole is near the back of the bowl. There are loads of sinks where the plug hole is in the middle of the bowl.

Before doing this kitchen, I had no idea how precise you have to be with spatial arrangements.

we have b&q tops n ikea cabs and its fine - I have a single sink for the same reason as bec would rather have a single large one than a useless little one. I went for an ikea ceramic inset one and am very pleased with it

I'm finding this thread most informative as I am in a similar position to Aah, 'cept I have a Wickes kitchen. can't decide on a sink (1.5), replacing white astracast and thought of brushed steel but don't know if it is easy to keep unblemished, also note Becs (post 10)I don't want something that will look smeary all the time so can't decide. Aah, are you going for the Franke ?

I have a brushed steel sink and I love it
This one http://www.sinks-taps.com/item-7650-BISTRO_1_0B_SIT_ON_Sink_with_FREE_ACCESSORIES.aspx but I have the one and half bowl version. It is the full depth of the worktop.
