Car trade-in?

im suprised it has no air bag for a 2002/3 car I thought most had one even if like my car its just for the driver, the way Id look at it is it cost nothing so use it & be very careful.
The lack of electric windows is one less thing to go wrong isnt it & Im sure I read somewhere the reliability rating for the 25 & 75 was fairly good.
without doubt it has an airbag and i'd be stunned if it didnt have ABS
Great little cars - it would be a travisty to trade it in for 'something safer'.
and manual windows - how very dare they!0 -

All Rovers from about 1995/6 have airbags fitted as standard. Earlier models had a red 'SRS' light on the steering wheel which should extinguish after 5/10 seconds. Later models had 'SRS' on the dashboard which should, again, extinguish after 5/10 seconds.
Essentially if it has the Rover symbol on the steering wheel it has an airbag.
Also I 'believe' that all Rover 25's after 2000 should have ABS as standard.

Agreed. As has been said elsewhere, learn to drive without ABS, that way you know how to drive. And if the ABS fails on the next car you have, you can still drive safely. My current cars don't have ABS, and I've been fine driving about in all this snow and ice. Same with things like traction control and electronic stability programming. They can be handy to have. But think about this. Your putting your safety in the hands of a computer. The same sort of thing you're using to read this, and type out your replies. I barely trust my computer to switch on, I'm sure not going to trust one to save my lifea free car to learn to drive in and you're considering giving it away or selling it????
Are you mad!?!?
Definitely keep it. It may not be worth much but that's something you'll appreciate it if the car is bumped.
There is also the issue of expense to fix things like ABS, TCS, ESP et al. The more abbreviations they throw into the mix, the more expensive to buy and maintain it.
Keep the Rover, let your other half learn in it, then keep it as a second car. It'll be worth far more to you like that than if you try to trade it in.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

Oh, forgot to say, having been in the trade the value of said rover is 1/2 a twix. Keep it.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

I'm sure my grandad's old 1997-R Rover 100 didn't have an airbag.

Yes it will have LeeUK! It would have had the chunky black steering wheel! (I used to work for BCR car rental which only did Rovers as they were owned by them!!)'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Probably not, as its based on the old metro. Round wheels and see through windows were top of the feature list on them

You can usually tell by the shape of the steering wheel if there's an airbag. Wheels with are filled in in the middle a lot more and probably say SRS somewhere on them. Those without tend to be more 'spindly'.0
