Am I a new customer

I currently have a SKY + box. It's getting quite expensive so I'm looking to get rid of movies etc. While I was at it I thought I'd investigate having my home phone and broadband provided by Sky too. The contract for Sky is in my husbands name and he's upped and left so I'm keen to move things over into my name.
I guess my questions would be has anyone any experience of taking over an account or would I have to cancel the current contract and would this then make me a new customer?
Thank you.

You'll need him to cancel & a letter from him saying he's no longer living there. As he's the primary on the account & unless he's added you as a secondary,Sky wont be able to do anything.
Then you can sign up with a new account.0 -
Thanks for that. We're not on the best of terms so just wondering what would happen if I cancel the direct debit (it comes off my bank account anyway). Same as cancelling or would it take them a while to notice and he'd end up with arrears?
Also, as I've got a box and installation do you think any one off up front charges would be waived?
Thanks again0
