kate_pixie wrote: »ColleenPamela, couldn't agree with you more. You could see Guy Ritchie's muckly little fingerprints all over that film. The entire weight of the film rested on the loveable Robert Downey Jnr's shoulders. Having said that, it was enjoyable and the only film I've ever liked Jude Law in.
Sorry, know it's not a film review thread so will reign it in before I turn into Jonathan Ross! hehehe. Yet another NSD for me so far, I honestly can't believe this. I'm trying to see how many days I can get through with my tenner still intact.
I must not spend, I must not spend, I must not spend!
People, people you are ruining my weekend fun as I was looking forward to Shelock Holmes even if I knew it would be pants. Oh well it will be a disappointing film week all round after Avatar. I am sad to say the best film I have seen recently it Have you heard about the Morgans? which was much better than my low expectations. I think the moral of the story is have low expectations and sometimes you will be pleasantly surprised.
Any hoo spends for me today were £2.55 on postage and £2.05 in savings pots from change (I save my £2 coins and anything 5p or under). Making a total of £12.70.Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

Ok I've just worked out, it's 5 weeks to my next hair appointment, and after checking the price list online - realised it's going to cost about £100
So that means I need to save every £20 a week from now to then to pay for it. Is it possible to have 35 NSDs in a row??!!!
(I budget for food, petrol, kids dinner money, ballet and bills so it's my own free cash to do with as I will, so just means no coffees out or chocolate or magazines:eek:):heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:0 -

I loved Sherlock Holmes Pointy, so don't be too put off, though I really don't usually like Jude Law he was great and Robert Downey Jnr is fab in it, anyway- another shiny NSD for me, though the snow and spending half the say at my parents following an early escape from work may have contributed to that!Debt free 11/05/11!
Savings £4000/ £3000 -
I loved Sherlock Holmes too, much better than avatar in my book. Mind you I haven't seen any other Guy Ritchie films... don't really do gangsters and gore and stuff!
Spent a bit today £19.29 on essentials (petrol and diet coke!) £10 for son for day out (spent every penny grrrrr)
By my calcs that is a total of £37.86 leaving me with £2.14. Does the challenge still end on Fridays!!?!!0 -
I have a confession to make. After a really rough afternoon at work, I went an bought, dah dah daaaaaah, cigarettes! I know I know, I absolutely suck. Epic Fail!
Not only has it brought my quit attempt back to square one, it's completely ruined my run of NSD's. I think I'm actually more annoyed about that! I did consider "you can always lie, your internet friends won't know", but I could never lie to you lovely budgeteers. Oh well, back on the wagon for me tomorrow.
So that's me confessing to £3.46 on evil cigarettes, and 89p on postage for a book I sold this afternoon on GreenMet. I did however, discover a fiver that magically appeared from nowhere meaning my tenner is still intact! Can I alter my budget to £15 for this week please?
Thank you guys for all your support with the quitting, and I promise I won't let you down again. xxx
P.S. Pointy, Sherlock Holmes was actually very enjoyable, I think I may have had unrealistic expectations is all. I hope you enjoy it xx

No no don't get me wrong, it was a good film, just not great...I was just expecting it to be much much funnier a la Snatch! If you go see it expecting a pretty good detective drama, you'll be pleased
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
Does the challenge still end on Fridays!!?!!
That is how I do mine (I only count until end of working day of Friday) but if you want to be really good can you do Saturday too, really it is up to you.
Feeling more positive about Sherlock Holmes, I might go one night this week as I have a cinema card so it is a cheap night out.
Kate_Pixie sorry to hear you have fallen off the smokeless wagon, don't be too hard on yourself you can always try again. They say giving up at new year is one of the hardest times maybe better luck in a few weeks.
Hope you are enjoying the snow if you have some, there is still a wee bit here

Evening you lovely people
I pledged £15 for this week as I knew I was meeting up with a friend tonight for a drink... and it worked! As I knew I only had £15 for the whole week (I withdrew £15 cash on monday morning and that's all I'm using for me-spends) I kept within my limit. I'm so pleased for joining in this challenge - the knowledge I'd have to 'fess up to what I was spending kept me on track and I till had a great chat with my mate over amazing wine (on discount, naturally).
So my spends today: £1 on tissues for my desk at work and £10 on drinks with my friend
So I still have £4 until Saturday. Going for a NSD tomorrow!
Afraid the new Sherlock Holmes Movie doesn't appeal to me (SORRY!) but Katie_Pixie I believe in you - you can get back on the wagon, you go!
Thanks again for inspiring me : )Proud to be dealing with my debt0
