Requested my MAC code from Orange

Just requested my MAC code from Orange, and they said it'd take about a week before I receive it.

I've been having problems with said provider for the last 6 weeks (DNS issues, intermittent connection etc...), and after nearly 2 months, I've had enough.

They eventually did sort the aforementioned issues, but at a cost - they actually halved my download speed from about 6.7 meg to approx 3.4 (I was on an up to 8 meg package).

From my POV, that's a bit of a steep price to pay for the problems to 'disappear'. It seems I'm paying full price for half the service I'm receiving.

Anyway, the guy at the other end was quite sympathetic; he did say someone from a 'senior' level would get in touch in a couple of days time, but I told him I appreciated what he said, but 6-8 weeks of problems (on a daily basis), is a bit too much for me to handle.

Hopefully, the ISP I'm going to (02), will have a much better service and a higher download speed. Apparently, my line can support over 9 meg, I live about 400 metres from the exchange, and it's LLU-enabled.

(pray for me) :D

DNS issues will not be fixed by reducing the line speed although frequent resyncs may well be.

If the basic cause of your problems is your line (or more likely your own extension wiring) then swapping ISP will not correct that although O2 should be much better than Orange anyway.
