You would think with the massive profits that supermarkets make from the public, that they could at least salt all their car parks and parking bays, especially the disabled bays but as usual they don't care.

Plenty supermarkets do.0

They probably think there's enough people walking across it so they'll carry the snow away on their shoes.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

its ridiculous to think they can do that, how would they....our councils have enough problems getting our roads done and they own gritting machines and when you think of the size of the car parks its impracticalAlways ask ACAS0

 I nearly slipped on all the slush that was all around the entrance to the top car park, whereas the car park itself was clear.
Why on earth didn't they clear their own entrance ?0 -
In our area Asda have gritted theirs, but Tesco haven't - we almost fell over two or three times.
I think it's appalling.0 -
Ok.
You're the manager of a supermarket. You've got to keep the shelves stocked, the checkouts manned. You're also keeping an eye on the weather because some of your staff live in outlying areas and are getting to work late or asking to get home early. You've got quite a few staff on holiday too.
So who are you going to take off normal duties to keep the car park & pavements ice free ? And what effect do you think that will have on your core business ?
Go on, tell us, you're the experts.0 -
I would have thought that if they try to clear the snow and somebody slips over, i would have thought that the supermarket would be liable? So if the supermarket doesnot try to clear the snow therefore if somebody slips over it cannot be there fault?:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

I doubt the supermarket would be liable if someone slipped on the snow in their car park. Its private land and theres no law enforcing them to clear the snow and ice.
Given the prolonged period of snow fall we have had its a bit much to expect the supermarkets to be gritting their car parks everyday. Its bad for the environment and cars too.0 -

How is it the supermarkets fault if YOU slip over due to the weather? Take more care, get the supermarket to deliver or go without.0 -

Not what the poster said. If the supermarket attempts to clear the snow and makes a bad job of it therefore making it more likely you fall then they can be help partially liable. If they do nothing then its just an act of god and they are not responsible.0
