Thanks - even if it is only hygroma, since it is bothering her it would need to be removed.....

Dreading this to be honest as I live on 1st floor, not many steps but still.

If Zara's leg had to be operated on...

And to top it all up - this is happening when my dog walker is going off for 2 weeks from the 6th, I am going back to work on the 4th (got no A/L left now till April).

    Grrrr

Zara is lying on the armchair in her "lampshade" and feeling sorry for herself, poor little girl :(

Well, it is not hygroma and it needs to be operated on/cut out :(

I have seen 4 (yup FOUR) vets today, 3 in one place and on in another and they all agree this needs to come off - could not take a good sample for analysis but will cut out as infected and then send it off for the lab.

So my 39kg of fur is off to the vets Friday morning for the operation.

I was told there will be no problem as the whole "growth" is on top of the skin (elbow) so will be easy to cut out and just stitch, I was also told ther is enough skin over the elbow for this not to affect her mobility after the op.

Now, was someone on here suggesting NOT getting pet insurance?

The vet was kind enough to agree I pay my excess (about 70, got to check) up front and he will claim the rest from Zara's insurance himself rather than me having to pay all up front and then me claiming from the insurance....(sight of relief)

Fingers crossed all will be fine... with my fur babe.

Thanks Fire Fox - hope Zara recovers soon.

Just took her lampshade off to take her out, she soooooooooooooooo loves playing in the snow.

At least, with the op scheduled for Friday - I will be at home with her at the weekend.

Dropped Zara off at the vest this morning - she was soooooooooooooooo happy to see we are getting in a car... and so dissapointed when she realised WHERE we were going....poor baby :(

Called the vet, was told she is ok and I can pick her up after work.

Can not wait to see her...at least I have the weeekend to fuss over her

    Paddypaws - thanks.....

Just a bit worried as I live on first floor- not many steps but still....

39kg of a GS is not easy to carry up and down the stairs few times a day....

But the vest said she can walk as that growth was only on the skin, not inside and there was enough skin for her joint to feel comfortable - just a bit sore for a few days...

can not wait to see her - vet nurses said she is a sweetie and that they are fussing over her ;)
