Buy two sticks and rotate your backups, or just use DVDs only 20p a go and will store 4.6 Gb.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

There are a lot of free websites you can use to store your photos, that way you won't lose them if your computer breaks.
Have you seen http://www.flickr.com/ ?
They are a bit slow to upload but it's a good way of doing it...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

You might be better with an external hard drive as a 250GB one probably wouldn't cost much more than a 16GB USB Flash drive.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Try Windows Live Skydrive as well. It has 25 GB of free storage space. Useful for backing up your photos.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
1.5mb is a conservative estimate for photos, though that depends on your camera.
Consumer point & shoot cameras are now around 10 megapixels, so an average picture size (taken in medium light) will be closer to 3mb. Fliesizes will get bigger as quality gets higher with any media.
I think buying a USB memory stick would be a false economy, as you pay considerably more per gb purely because it is portable. If you are only wanting to store the photos off the computer, I would seriously consider an external desktop hard disk. A (very) quick google suggests you can get a 1 terrabyte external HD for £60, which would cover you for regular backups, taking photos off your main machine and mean that you won't need to upgrade for a good while if that's all you're using it for.0 -
Personally I owuldn't use a ISB flash drive to store photos long term. They're too easy to lose. I'm not sure how good they are for long term storage either as they're not really designed for it.
Aso thers have said you'd be better off using onlien storage like Skydrive but also burn them to DVD as a secondary backup. You can't have too many copies of your photos. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
I agree with the above. Long term USB sticks are less durable than external disk drives. Online storage is also a nice idea.0
