  • Paul, hows work going now the weather's cleared up? Must still be blimmin cold though!? Any more news on the money you're waiting on?

Having a nice lazy day today, have done some farming, now gonna see if I can DS to sleep for a while so I can blitz some housework!:o

Thanks for asking. I am getting back into the swing of things gradually. I still have some delayed starts in the morning until the temperature climbs a bit due to the risk of freeze-up. It was OK for a few days but today it was below zero at 9 so I went out about midday in the end. I managed 4 and a half hours which is OK really because when I know I have a shorter day, I can up the tempo to make up for some of the lost time.
As far as payments go, I'm just going to have to learn to live with it. It's one of the penalties of getting more commercial work. The £1900+ I was owed is currently £1400+ so some improvement. However, some of that £1400+ is for work I've done very recently so I'm OK with that. Normally, during Summer, it can reach up to about £1300 outstanding at most and reduces in Winter - sometimes to 3 or 4 hundred as I get delayed with work more and people gradually catch up with paying. I'm OK with those amounts normally but over the last year or so, I have become more money conscious due to this site. The credit cards are now for emergencies where it would be cutting off nose to spite face not to use them. I needed to use one to pay my council tax yesterday for January. The alternative was to risk a summons being issued in the next week or two which would have cost me £45. So the 1.5% for using a CC plus a bit of interest is cheap in comparison.
I will also need to borrow (perhaps from the IR) to pay the Jan31 tax bill. I will know tomorrow evening how much that is. It's a big one because I had a big jump in income between the relevant two years so there will be a hefty payment on account due. I've nothing put aside to cover it.
There is another side to this though. Only yesterday I picked up a new job worth £120 every other month. Also, once I've caught up with the backlog of work from the freeze-up, I will be out there getting more new work in. Although no-one has escaped totally free from the recent and current financial issues, I am in the position of being in one of the few industries that hasn't been too badly affected (yet). In fact, I know what I must do to increase income. It's not pretty as some of it will involve dropping (or passing on) lower paid work to swap it for better paid work. I'm not good at stuff like that but if I go under, I don't intend it to be because I felt guilty about not maximizing my business profit.
  • Lol! Never! At least I try not to!

Anyone do surveys on here? Just ordered a voucher from IPSOS and there's nothing on their website to say how long it will take. Any ideas anyone?

Hey PJF, Ipsos are pretty good for surveys and vouchers.Mine normally take a few weeks, not nearly as long as some.Cant be more specific, my memory isnt great but Iits not too long.
Id suggest giving them maybe 4 weeks but it should be with you before then

My last lot of vouchers from Ipsos took about 3 weeks, but that was just before Christmas. I think it says somewhere to allow 28 days, but I might have made that up!

    Evening Lovely Padders :hello:

Hope everyone's feeling ok today? Better than yesterday for me :)
Fantastic total yesterday - thanks again for totalling Green :A
A PAD of £10 please. This month I have to pay off my £300 overdraft that I used to pay for my Mum's party in December.
It's not on my sig, but I'll be PADding it in bits until it's paid.

Mac - apparently, even after 1 child has been in a car seat it weakens it. I don't go in for all that over the top safety nonsense and I'm happy to use car seats for more than 1 child. The baby one we're using now has done our 2 and the seat DD is in has already been used by my neice!

Yes, I wouldn't worry about that as long as it hasn't been in an accident, it will be fine.
Sadly, it isn't over the top safety nonsense.....I've seen the photographic evidence to the contrary :(
