As someone who's been around domestic violence, how the hell is this meant to be funny?

Yep, sorry Green, agree totally with above.
Life of sheer torture as child adolescent and adult due to father's violence and brutality.
Women speaking or not is not a contibrutory factor. Millions of women, children and young people suffer this, with lifelong consequences and it is more akin to captivity and torture than 'a liiitle dispute getting out of hand'. It's about control, power, sociopathic and psycopathic tendencies.
Myths and jokes are extremely harmful in perpetuating public and professional misconceptions.

Sorry Green and others, if you really knew what it was like you wouldn't joke about it. I don't wish to offend anyone and remain thankful for support and encouragement on this forum.

Many people on this thread do know what its like, but know that Green would never intentionally upset anyone. All jokes have to be taken with a pinch of salt, if they werent no one would ever be able to tell jokes.

  • Thanks Flower, I'm not saying Green would intentionally offend anyone. I appreciate that. DV is a massive societal problem and it just ain't funny.

I appreciate that - speaking from experience with my ex i know DV is a problem, but if we all got upset about every joke that was ever told because it 'could' offend someone things would just get rediculous.

I think to be honest people were more annoyed that Bagpuss has never posted on this thread before, doesnt 'know' any of us and just stormed in posted then disappeared.

    Never mind :D

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Hi All

I have had a fairly carpy day today after a fairly carp weekend! Not only am I doing battle with the old Black Dog again, but yesterday I managed to get a shard of a broken cooking dish lodged in my finger - just behind the 1st knuckle of my right index finger. Ouch ouch ouch! I couldn't get it out, by this morning it hadn't worked its way out and so today I spent the whole afternoon in A&E near to where I work - to no avail. Xray showed it was lodged deep, doctor failed to get it out and so referred me to hands clinic (got to wait for an appointment) so they can discuss the pros and cons of removing it by minor op or leaving it in! I can't believe they are even thinking of leaving it in! It's agony! I am not too bad at the moment as it has a large sticking plaster on it, keeping it straight (bending it hurts like hell) but what use is a finger I can't use, can't bend and I'm afraid to touch - just scrape me down from the ceiling if you do?!

Anyway, enough of the rant! Today's PADs are £5.25 to Evil Egg and £1.25 to Abominable Amex, making a total today of £6.50
